Swim Course

Alderford Lake is a sheltered freshwater lake, making it the perfect site for the swim portion of the event. With no currents to content with, entrants will swim laps of the lake to complete their distance.

  • Olympic & Relay - 2 laps
  • Sprint & Relay - 1 lap
  • Super Sprint & Fun - 1 lap of the short course

Bike Course

When you're finished with your swims, head to the cycle transition to collect your bike. From here, entrants will ride the flat, lapped course to complete their distance.

See here for an interactive map of the bike course.

  • Olympic & Relay - 2 laps
  • Sprint & Relay - 1 lap
  • Super Sprint & Fun - 1 laps

Run Course

Almost all of the way there, riders will head to transition to rack their bike and head around the grassy 2.5k run course, completing laps of the route to run the full distances. There will be a feed station along the course which runners will pass each lap.

See here for an interactive map of the run course.

  • Olympic & Relay - 4 laps
  • Sprint & Relay - 2 laps
  • Super Sprint & Fun - 1 lap
Logistics and schedule

06:00 Registration opens

07:00 All races start

It is recommended that entrants arrive at least an hour before their start time to leave plenty of time to register and prepare.

Race Packs

All race day information, including bib numbers, will be emailed to competitors 7-10 days before the event. Race packs themselves will be available to collect from registration on the day. Each pack will include

  • Race numbers x2
  • Bike sticker x2
  • Helmet sticker x1
  • Electronic timing chip

Age Requirements

All participants must be 17 and older to enter the Olympic Distance as an individual, and 16 and older to enter the other distances.

Kit List

Wetsuits are mandatory for the Olympic Triathlon, but not for the other events. Participants are asked to bring their own swim caps to the event, and if you do not have your own, please ask at registration and one will be provided for you.

All participants must have a bike in road-worthy bike in working order and a helmet.

How to Relay

After completing the swim, the swimmer passes the electronic chip to the cyclist inside the cycle transition area next to where the cycle is racked. The cyclist must not put their helmet on or take their cycle off the rack until receiving the electronic chip.

The cyclist completes the cycle course and passes the electronic chip over to the runner in the transition area only when the cycle has been placed back on the rack and their helmet has been fully removed.

The runner completes the run and hands in the electronic chip at the finish line.

Spectators

Spectators are welcome at the event but there is a fee to enter the grounds at the lake. £1 per adult, 50p per child, and those under 3 go free.
