Route information
Previously the Bedford 20, the Twin Lakes 20 is a very popular event by Dirt Running, who have 11 years of experience, and will ensure a wonderful day is had by all.
The 10 mile and 20 mile routes will start with a stunning lake-side lap around Willen South Lake. From here its on to the traffic-free and scenic countryside of Milton Keynes.
After the lake its along the River Ouzel all the way along to Caldecotte Lake, before heading back to Willen via the Grand Union Canal, so you'll never be far from the water!
A wonderful multi-terrain course with approximately 80% on cycle paths, some gravel patches, and the remainder along the canal towpath, this course has it all.
This race is an ideal training run for anyone running an Autumn marathon.

By Car
Please use the postcode MK15 0DS in your Sat Nav. If you are on the M1, exit at Junction 14 and follow the signs to Central Milton Keynes until you pick-up the signs for Willen Lake.
By Bus
The number 8 bus from Milton Keynes centre runs to Woolstone Roundabout West. Here, entrants can walk down from the bus stop, take the first right at the Redway junction under the main road, and then take your first left into Willen Lake.

Parking
North Bay Car Park
Off Newlands roundabout, V10 Brickhill St (Splash ‘n’ Play, play areas, and wakeboarding). This car park operates an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system, and payment must be made prior to exiting the car park (NOT ON ARRIVAL).
You can pay by card over the phone or at the machines. For instructions and the Terms and Conditions of Parking please view the signs which are located next to each pay station.
South Bay Car Park
Off Lakeside roundabout, V10 Brickhill St (by the hotel, gym, and The Lakeside pub). This Car Park operates a pay and display system (cash only), which means you pay upon arrival into this car park.

Cut-off Time
There will be a 5 hour cut-off time in place for the 20 mile race. Any runners that doesn't reach the halfway point in 2.5 hours will be asked to retire from the race.
Age Requirements
All entrants must be 18 and older to enter the 20 mile race.
Refreshments
Benugo Bar & Kitchen at Willen Lake will open from 8am. It is located near the Event Village and offers a range of hot and cold drinks and cakes. There will also be a coffee van on-site for the duration of the event.
Water Stations
There will be aid stations every 5 miles and volunteers will refill water bottles using jugs and offer water in cups, but please bring your own hydration and nutrition to the event, using bottle belts and hydration backpacks, etc.
Toilets
There will be toilets at Splash N Play and at the new facility.
Virtual Entry
If you can't make it on the day but still want to get involved, you can run this 20 miles virtually in your own time and along a route you choose. The race window for the virtual option is 16th - 22nd March 2022. This is only possible for residents of the United Kingdom.

Did the race in 2022
Very pretty route and flat. About 2 miles is tow path which could be muddy and slippy if it’s rained
