Warwickshire Bear Ultra

Safety measures in place ·
Event summary

This brand new 60k ultra through the Warwickshire countryside is the perfect opportunity to push yourself this autumn. The mostly flat route makes this a great shot for a PB or to try your hand at ultra running. Come for stunning views and an epic finisher's medal.

Your organiser

The majority of our events are challenge events - multi-lap races with a time limit rather than a set distance. This means people can run all different distances on the same day, making for a great atmosphere. Lapped events can get some negative feedback but our laps are around beautiful locations. We avoid out and back laps and coming back to the wonderful aid station (full of your requests) can be a good motivator. Whether it's your A race, you need to do some long training runs, you have a 100-mile ultra in a few weeks or you want to hammer out a quick 10k, our races allow everyone to get involved together. We’re also expanding our mid-week evening 10K series too. Keep an eye out for updates on these as we are continually adding more. Expect the same care and attention and in the same great locations!

We’re always looking for volunteers to help make these events epic.

Route description
Route description

This mostly trail run starts in Rugby, and follows along the Great Central Way, a local nature reserve.

Runners will enjoy a 2 mile stretch in open fields as the route takes you towards Draycote Water. Runners will then enjoy views of the water as they head towards Thurlaston for the first checkpoint. Next, a mix of roads and grassy fields will get runners back onto the Route 41 cycle route, before another quiet country-road section.

Then, runners are taken on the old railway line and gravel cycle track on their way to Birdingbury, where there will be a welcome aid station marking 10 miles.

Next, runners can enjoy Grand Union Canal at Stockton Locks, as they run past picturesque views of the canal all the way to Leamington Spa, with another aid station at the Two Boats Inn which marks 15 miles.

The route then takes runners along to the other side of the canal to The Fusilers Pub at mile 19.

From here, there are no more surprises as is back the way you came to the finish line and to pick up your hard earned medal.

The entire route will display Warwickshire's beautiful countryside, and will take place over 60% trail and 40% asphalt.
