The event will start and finish at South Wheatley Village Hall. The route takes Nottinghamshire's scenic rural countryside, using a combination of local waterway tow paths: The Cuckoo Way (Chesterfield Canal), and the Trent Valley Way (River Trent). The route follows the tranquil and scenic waterways most of the way, keeping navigation simple. It has a real cross country feel at times in remote areas, given the nature of the River Trent flood bank. 90% trail, with only some minor roads/tracks along the Trent Valley Way to link waterways. NB: Some of the flood bank running by the side of the Trent is rough underfoot providing a real challenge!

Very friendly and well organised event. Tough going underfoot - muddy and uneven. Definitely a run for trail shoes and strong ankles!

This is my second event completed in the Hobo series and both have been really friendly, top notch events. It is a professionally-run outfit, that are difficult to fault. Waterways 30 is a scenic course making great use of riverside tracks. The aid stations supplied a variety of sweet and savoury treats and the marshals/organisers were, without doubt, the friendliest and helpful I've come across. The soup was gorgeous at the end and we were gifted with a personalised medal and technical vest- an extremely great value for money event. I'll certainly be looking to complete the other races put on by Hobo.

I found the event was really well organised and the staff at the 2 checkpoints i stopped at very friendly, happy and helpful, especially the 2 ladies at CP3. The course was very muddy which some might say you should expect in january and i did wear good trail shoes, the comments i heard a lot which i agree with was in places it was just un runnable due to the mud and many people also wondered why the waterway 30 was 32 miles

Another classic from the Hobo Pace team. I've done 4 of Ronnie's ultra's now and they're well organised and friendly. I can't wait for the Dukeries 40 and Robin Hood 100!

Flat but tough muddy course, quite exposed in places. Super organisation and delicious soup after!

Due to the wind, rain and the silly amount of mud I found this really hard. A course to breeze through on a dry lovely day. Loved the orga and all volunteers were absolutely fabulous! Hats off to the two people sitting at the turn-off from the Trent! They were cheering us on through the wind and rain.

That stretch along the River Trent was a mental battle! And the finish line moved further away this year! ;-)

The event was great from the course to the volunteers. Well stocked filling stations but not everyone is a vegan so a little meat menu may not go a miss but that does not take away the overall high standard of this event. Will I be back yes defo thanks again great day.

The event was very well organised from start to finish with plenty of information given well in advance. The course is easy to navigate and the markings are extremely helpful. Certainly a good race for a first Ultra. All of the marshals are extremely helpful and friendly and were all upbeat even though the weather was not the best. All of the aid stations were extremely well stocked. The medal engraving is a nice touch!
