A bit disappointing. Closed roads so not sure why the start was so early for a winter race - it was barely light. Struggled to find my way to the start as there was no signage around the pitch black lake. Run involved several dead turns which isn’t ideal. They also promised trophies for the top 3 but after waiting in very cold conditions, the prize was actually a voucher for money off the next F3 event.!… read more

They didn’t have my registration so while I could race, I had to wait 20 mins for my crappy handwritten number. Not conducive to getting in a good place before the race and nowhere near the organization required for a £55 event. The cut off time is also extremely tight. While I made it, several people didn’t which meant you had people finish the race “ahead” of you even though they had completed all of the bike course. Then when I went to get my bag, they had just piled all of the running race bags on top of the duathlon bags. Pretty poor really.… read more

£55 for a ride and run is expensive but I accepted that. However, the £6 booking fee is off putting. No matter how the organisers want to pretty up the additional costs with justification words. The £55 is more than full value and the £5 booking fee at the end of the process is off putting.

The race was pretty good with really good Pacers. The volunteers and marshals made it even more special. The instructions were all pretty clear. The only disappointment for me was no post running goodies (apart from the medal and a bottle of water) and not even a banana was offered after finishing a half marathon race. But, overall it was a fantastic event and the weather was awesome too.

Very well organised, fast course and overall a great race. Need to start near the front if you don't want to get held up - makes for a fast start

Great marshals and friendly atmosphere. Definitely one for a PB, not the most scenic but then again - its flat! Not so many people as to get in your way and quite a few pace makers for 300 odd runners if running slower than 1:35.Note: they set off a 5K, 10K and 15K shortly after the half marathon start and they run on the same roads - expect more casual runners (lots of headphones)

Fun run, superb marshals, though for a 35 run one costa van to keep all spectators ocupied for 2 hrs plus a little poor as was a tatty bottle of water with labels half missing for the runners at the end and a generic medal with only the ribbon to differentiate the runs a little disapoiting also. Plus not a banana in sight!.

Great course, super fast and smooth. Perfect for a PB without needing to fight through the crowds as a fairly small event. No official results email though which is a bit of shame, also no veggie food on the food truck.

F3 duathlon events are generally well organised and offer people a chance to race close to London. The course is of course flat and fast, though can be windy given its openness. The events however are overpriced for what they are. More expensive than some of the bigger age group qualifier events (e.g. Clumber) despite being fairly small scale. I would like to see a technical race t-shirt included for the price.

It was freezing! Still some much appreciated cheering from the smaller than normal crowd of supporters. Well run and friendly event around the fast smooth and flat course at Dorney Lake. Thanks F3 and definitely see you there again.

I love the casual set-up. May not cater to the elite, but helps relax the more novice types.... but having said that... I recommend: 1) explaining how do people leave (by car)? I had first-timers asking me where/how to exit, easier to explain during the briefing and/or someone in the carpark available to explain... easy to spot - anyone with walking back with a bike. 2) Giving people a 10min and 5min count-down to start (so people can plan their warm-ups accordingly). 3) Slower runners should be encouraged to start from the further back - it's an not offensive msg, and spending my first 500yds dodging them in a pain in the A. 4) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post up the results quicker. I like to pretend I'm just trying to take part.... nope.

I did this in January last year and again this year, it's a great event, the Events Team are the best ever, helpful beyond the call of duty. I did the Standard Duathlon, will be doing February and March too.

There were a few technical difficulties (no power); and contradictory information regarding start times but overall the event was good despite the crazy weather conditions. Hats off to the marshalls for still having a smile!

Always a good opener to a racing year. Each year the weather challenges you, this year snow and and wind. The course as its closed makes it possible to really engage your top speed potential. Flat and fast.

The weather was grim, but I don't have any negative comments for the organizers. Closed roads, clearly indicated routes. A queue at registration was expected and it wasn't too bad. Costa coffee point at the finish was a nice bonus. One suggestion through - security checks at the transition zone wasn't as thorough as expected. Nobody paid closed attention what bikes were taken out and by whom.
