Can you beat the barge? The challenge is to beat the canal barge as it travels between Marsden and Diggle. The barge will leave between 10:55 and 11:05 and when it does you have 1 hour 45 minutes to reach the finish line in Diggle.
The trail route is approximately 5 miles long and will be well marked as it heads up and over Marsden Moor. It will be challenging in parts, but manageable for runners of all abilities. You can run, jog or walk your way to Diggle, as long as you beat the barge!

Marsden is situated south of the M62, and is accessible from either Junction 22 or 23. The Standedge Tunnel and Visitor Centre is situated just North West of the town off the A62.
Parking
Competitors are encouraged to park at The Old Goods Yard near the train station. It is 2 miles from the start, but will be perfect for when you catch the train back after the race.
By Train
Marsden Station is approximately 2 miles from the start of the race.

Runners will collect their race numbers on the day when they register.
Start Waves
Runners will be set off in waves at 2 minute intervals from 11:00. Please select your start wave when booking.
Cut-off time
Runners have 1 hour 45 minutes from when the barge leaves, to reach the finish in Diggle.
Age Restrictions
You must be at least 13 years old to compete.
Post Race
Catering will be available when you arrive in Diggle, provided by the Tunnel End Cafe. Runners will receive a free chip buttie at the Diggle Hotel. You can walk to Greenfield Station to catch the train back to the start in Marsden.
