Wooler Trail Marathon is set in the heart of Northumberland National Park and includes many splendid uninterrupted views to the far horizon and many undulations along the way. The race starts in Wooler before heading towards some of the best views in the country, if not the world. The race is split across two days so why not come up for the whole weekend. The Sunday after the race is party night in Wooler!

This is a challenging Trail Marathon with just over 6000 feet of ascent, but the views available are well worth the effort. The half marathon route also offer a challenging run with some of the same great views. All the routes will be marked with tape and signs.

Meet the organizer

At Trail Outlaws we are passionate about Trail Running and the benefits and positivity it can bring to ours and others lives. We are both avid trail runners of all distances and have been for many years, enjoying events all over the UK. We love the fact there is no elitism in trail running and we have seen first hand, the camaraderie involved in this fast growing sport. And we bring that to our events, encouraging and cheering on runners of all levels and abilities. We believe the trails and national parks of the North should be enjoyed by all, this is why our events take part in National Parks, National Trust land, Forestry Commission Land, Sites of Special Scientific Interest. As we believe these little gems go unlooked by runners as a whole, and we want to encourage all to enjoy them responsibly.

Having never taken part in a trailoutlaws event I wasnt sure what to expect however I was really pleased with the marshall support and thought the whole event was ran very well. The coarse was very well marked and the route was challenging! Sweets and refreshments at aid stations (3 or 4 can't remember) Soup at the end of the 28.8 miles was a delight! I met plenty of nice people on the way round. Would recommend. Good medal and nice t shirt. Thanks

The race went well. However I would use more aggressive trail shoes next time. Mine didnt quite live up to the wet conditions.

I also ran in 2016 & 2017, and all 3 events were fantastic in every way: organisation, scenery, challenge and atmosphere. Just save your legs until the Cheviot is my advice! But definitely worth the trip, just like the Dark Skies marathon at Kielder which is another favourite event of theirs.

When I got up on the hills the views provided an incredible boost! Stunning scenery throughout.
