Worcester half and full marathon routes

Full Marathon:

The Full Marathon runners follow the same course as the Half Marathon until they enter the village of Oddingley for the second time; they then carry on straight through the village and start the second lap. They then follow the same course again except just before they get to the village of Himbleton there is a right turn past Huddington entering a loop that brings them back to the far side of Himbleton rejoining the original Half Marathon Course. They then repeat the route along Hay Lane, through Spernal Green and back to Oddingley before retracing their original steps past the Pear Tree Hotel and following the Half Marathoners along the canal towpath to your
finish on the Worcester Warriors Site.

FAQs

Cut Off Times

We are glad to say there is no cut off time for the half marathon. Unfortunately, as it is not fair on our volunteers to be out all day, we do have to enforce a cut off time for the full marathon. If you do not reach the 11 mile point (where the half turns for home) by 2 hrs and 15 minutes you will be directed to complete just the half marathon, for which you will still get a finish time, medal and tee shirt. If it looks like you are going to take 6 hours or more we may support you with a following car, but we will always communicate with you before that happens.

Baggage & Toilets

The bag drop will be located at Worcester Warriors near the finish area where your bags will be available for collection after the race. There are plenty of toilets available for you to use on the Worcester Warriors Ground by the finishing area. Please make use of these before you head across to the briefing/start area as there are no toilets once you leave the Warriors ground side. On the course, there is one portaloo for use at 6 / 13 miles.

Music Whilst Running

No. The Worcester Full and Half Marathon adheres with UKA guidance: for races using open or partly open roads, all headphones (including bone conductors) or similar devices (unless for medical purposes) are not permitted. Unfortunately any competitor caught using headphones will be disqualified from the event. Besides, with entertainment at least every second mile, cheering and support on the route we think there’ll be enough going on that on this occasion you won’t miss your music/podcast!

Well organised event, but the course was incredibly hilly! Really tough race. Not closed roads either, so there were some cars to contend with along the many country lanes. Drink stops every four miles had high-5, jelly babies and water (but could have been more frequent, as it was a very hot day!). Excellent tech T-shirt and fab medal at the finish, but very little opportunity for friends to watch en route (meaning not many supporters throughout), and with the hills it was easy to become a little dejected, so some support would have been gladly received! Volunteer marshals were all lovely!

this was my first full marathon experience and was absolutely amazing and was very well organised and the Marshalling was very good and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing food stations were great public were lovely I wanted a time of 4hrs 30m and came away with 4hrs 2min so very happy
  • Did the 13 1 Miles in 2019

Well organised, and the option to opt out of the full marathon if you felt unable to continue was most welcome. I think more water/aid stations are required for the full run, but i recognise that logistics and size of the event probably precludes this. I will run it again, but bring my own water in a vest.
