Taking place on the same day as the full 26.2 mile Yorkshire Marathon, the Yorkshire 10 Mile shares many of the highlights of the Marathon with the added bonus of only having to run 10 miles often referred to as the perfect racing distance.

The race will begin in the heart of York arguably the most beautiful City in the UK - and pass various historic landmarks including the stunning York Minster and the impressive medieval City Walls.

The race will also travel out into the Yorkshire countryside where runners will be treated to scenic surroundings as they run down quaint country roads.

Yorkshire 10 Mile route

0 – 1 mile

A very fast start dropping down Green Dykes Lane, before heading east towards the city through the medieval gateway at Walmgate Bar.

1 – 2 miles

Continuing into the city along Parliament Street, be sure to enjoy the vibrant and vocal support around the iconic York Minster.

2 – 3 miles

Exit the city walls through Monk Bar and head north-east on Monkgate, Heworth Green and Stockton Lane.

3 – 4 miles

Grab a drink at the first drink station and settle into a rhythm on Stockton Lane as you chase down the Marathon field ahead of you.

4 – 5 miles

As you leave the city behind, head up and over the A64, past the first Marathon Relay change-over point.  Prepare for your right hand turn at the half way point.

5 – 6 miles

Time for you to leave the Marathon route for a time.  Turn south on Holtby Lane and past the second drink station.  Re-join the back end of the Marathon route on Bad Bargain Lane.

6 – 7 miles

Push past the 10KM point and there is not an incline in sight as you head into the village of Murton.

7 – 8 miles

Wave to the last of the Marathon Relay change-over points and turn west back towards the city. Cross under the A64 and refuel at the final drink station ready for a big finish.

8 – 9 miles

The road follows the beck as it winds through Osbaldwick Village, before you turn left on Tang Hall Lane and re-join the Hull Road.

9 – 10 miles

Head west on Hull Road and steel yourself for the climb towards campus.  Pass the start line and feel the buzz from the spectators as they line the descent towards the finish line.  Collect your goody bag, post-race drinks and chill out in our event village – you’ve done it!

Time
The race begins at 10:15.
Let's Do This recommends you arrive at least 45 minutes before the start of the race

Race Number
Your race number will posted to the address that you entered when you registered for the event. Race numbers will start to be posted to your registered address from around 7 -10 days prior to the event. If you register on event week, then you will need to collect your race number from our race office on event weekend.

If you have changed address since registration, it is your responsibility to inform us. However, we will also be sending out an email around eight weeks before the event to ask if you have changed address recently.

The Race Packet will contain:
Your race number with timing chip
Important event day information will be sent to you by email and will also be available online. Please add us to your safe senders list to ensure you receive our key messages. If you’re not receiving our emails, please check your junk folder just in case.

Important Note about Race Numbers
Your timing chip is affixed to your race number, do not attempt to remove or fold the chip. Do not pierce the chip with safety pins.

Wear your chipped bib number on your chest on the outer layer of clothing e.g. if a running jacket is worn, wear your number on top of this. Do not obscure/ cover your bib number + chip with a bum bag/ running belt.

We encourage runners not to position their arm to start/ stop a personal timing device on or right in front of the bib whilst running over the timing mats themselves as this impedes the signal. Arms can be positioned slightly away from the body, or the devices can be started /stopped when the runner isn’t on the actual mat.

Your bib + timing chip does not need to be collected in after the event. It can be disposed of in general waste, or kept as a memento of your race day!

Race numbers are not interchangeable and entries cannot be assigned, transferred, sold or gifted to any third party. Do not under any circumstances allow anybody else to run with your race number. Amongst other issues, this can create major problems for the medical team should they need to treat unknown runners.

Volunteers
Hundreds of volunteers are needed at each event to ensure the day runs smoothly and everyone has an amazing time. Roles vary from route marshals and start/finish marshals to helping on drinks stations or in the baggage store. Please refer to our volunteer pages for more information.
