Starting just outside the walled city of York, these four Yorkshire Classic Routes showcase the glorious areas of both North Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire.
The toughest climb of the ride is a short and sharp 1.9k burst with an average of 6.5% as you come out of the village of Leavening. Negotiate that, and the rest is 'rolling' through the beautiful countryside Yorkshire has to offer.

The course was lovely and v well signed but the food stop at Burythorpe was appalling. All we were offered to eat was a thin slice of cherry cake, bananas cut into thirds (?!) and a bag of crisps. There were also OTE gels and bars but we needed something far more substantial. This is the worst food stop I have ever experienced on a sportive and we were starving. There was one toilet only in the portakabin which couldn’t be flushed and it was full of excrement. There was no running water to wash hands either. Very poor facilities. A few sandwiches and some flapjack plus hot tea and coffee would have been very welcome. This experience spoilt our day and I would not book again. We would rather have had something substantial to eat than a medal. So relieved we didn’t do the long ride.
