I entered this race because I was spending the day in Blackpool for my daughter's dance event and it was a good use of my time between registration and the show.
The course is Run in the same location as the Blackpool Parkrun.
Registration was pretty standard in terms of collecting a number on the day and although the bag drop was unmanned, it was still there and the contents in tact after the race.
I've never done an event which starts and ends on an athletics track. The course is two laps so the athletics track is involved at the beginning, middle and end.
There's nothing that I could fault about logistics or the briefing. The marshals were a friendly bunch. The park is impressive and in the nicest possible way a real contrast from the busy tourist area down the road.
Support on the course was limited which is to be expected inside a park but the available supporters were encouraging.
The finish on the track encouraged a bit of a final effort. The volunteer at the finish line proudly told me that the medal incorporates a beer bottle opener and I've tried it and it works. The medal itself is one of the better ones that I've had from a 10K. Everyone received a bottle of water and a Cadbury's Freddo which was a nice combo.
The course has a certificate of accuracy and I clocked it as 6.17 which is close enough.
The sports centre nearby allowed those who needed a shower to use the facilities.
In summary, well done Fylde Coast Runners.
