The River Spey 10k Whisky Swim

The River Spey is a river in the northeast of Scotland. It is the ninth longest river in the United Kingdom, as well as the third longest and fastest-flowing river in Scotland. It is important for salmon fishing and whisky production. This is an unique swim which takes swimmers through the RSPB Insh Marshes nature reserve.

Situated on the world famous Antrim Coast Road you will find BallyGallys award winning beach, nestled under the Sallagh Braes and home to the historic BallyGally Castle.

Views of the infamous North channel and the Mull of Kintyre will meet you as you stand ready for a running beach start into the chilly waters of BallyGally!

Loch Ken Wild Swim
Castle Douglas, Scotland, United Kingdom

Loch Ken is perfect for wild swimming and this is a great opportunity for experienced swimmers, families and beginners alike. As part of the hydro electric scheme the Loch is regularly filled with fresh, clean water straight off the Rhinns of Kells and it is becoming well known as an excellent place to swim. Throughout the day there is a 1km, 2km and 4 km race. There's also a fun kids' splash session! Galloway Activity Centre.

Firth of Forth Swim

The swim starts from South Queensferry leaving at Hawes pier and is swam along by the rail bridge to finish at the old pier at North Queensferry, a distance of 1.4 miles. On application all swimmers must submit an expected completion swim time. Due to the water conditions and time constraints all entrants will have to agree to the disclaimer for this event.

Spanning 7 days the Monster Triathlon is the UKs ultimate multi-sport challenge.

The event established itself as one of the toughest endurance challenges in the UK, covering 1,000km between Loch Ness and London across 3 disciplines.

It starts with a 5km swim in Loch Ness, before 5 stunning days on the bike and finishes with an ultra-marathon along the Thames. For those unable to tackle the beast in one go we are offering Swim, Cycle and Run only packages this year. Youll pass lakes, climb mountains, ride past fields, fly through villages, cross rivers and conquer hills. As well as being an epic challenge The Monster Triathlon also highlights the beauty and diversity of the UK. There are 7 days of meticulously planned routes, with full support teams in attendance at every start, finish, on the route and at hotels.

What you need to know about Swimming Events

Swimming races and open water swimming events generally tend to be between 1—10km in length, however, more challenging swims can be up to 80km long. Swims over 10km are classed as Marathon Swims, These events take place in lakes or in the sea, often with a great atmosphere and a festival vibe. If you’re just starting out, get some practice in a pool first, temperature and choppiness are factors to consider before diving in.
