About Top Rated

If you're like us, the first thing you look for when choosing an event is reviews from past attendees. We value reviews so much, we're compiling a series of Top Rated charts to celebrate the best challenge events and organizers each year according to you, the community.

Can't see an event you've attended?

Leave a review so an event makes the board. Events from the last year need a minimum of 5 reviews so we can determine their average rating.

When does the year start and end?

The current charts recognise events that occurred between 04 August 2019 - 04 August 2020.

How are the events ranked?

Events are ranked using an algorithm that takes into account review ratings and volume of reviews.

Why is the Top Rated chart rating different to the event page?

The 1-10 ratings displayed on the Top Rated charts are representative of attendee reviews from the current year for the relevant race e.g. Rotary Shakespeare Marathon. The star rating displayed on event pages is representative of attendee reviews from all seasons for all races at an event e.g. Rotary Shakespeare Marathon and Half Marathon.

What are Flagship Events?

Flagship events are running events that are attended by 10,000+ people. These are the largest events in the UK and are a great experience for runners of all experience levels.

How is the UK divided into North and South?

UK South contains events within the East of England, London, the South East, and the South West. UK North contains events within the East Midlands, the West Midlands, the North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, the North East, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Bike4Bart – Meon Valley
“We did this event on the back end of a hurricane! Sadly this meant that some people dropped out and attendance was lower than expected. That said - we had a great ride, the bands and food stands were really good and the event well run and managed. The Standard ride is a good challenge but really achievable. We'll be back next year!”

Etape Caledonia
“This is my local sportive, 2019 event was my 6th on the trot, always have a great time as my nephew from Virginia Water and others from the London area come North to do it. I have just completed my 2nd Ride London 100 Event and although well organised, due to the number of Riders (25,000) there are always accidents and other incidents which close off the hilly parts of the course like Box Hill and Leith Hill, which you then end up trudging along pushing bike with thousands of others and a lot of the enjoyment disappears, not organisers fault but just too many people for the narrow Surrey lanes. Well done Etape Caledonia organisers, as have never really had any delays on th EC. Great event keep it going. 🚴🏽‍♂️🚴🏽‍♂️🏅🏅👍😎”

Brecon Beacons Devil Sportive
“My first sportive and a very enjoyable experience .Well organised in a fairly chilled way . Excellent route signage. Some very steep climbs on narrow single track roads . Nice relaxed and friendly volunteers at foodstops with tasty homemade snacks . Some quite broken up road surfaces so robust endurance type bike with 28 mm tyres advisable .”
