This draft illegal friendly and competitive chip timed event by Race Rapid Mallory will be held at Mallory Park. A great location for beginner and seasoned triathletes duathletes. The lake swim course is in the centre of the circuit, the cycle and run(s) are on the circuit on very smooth tarmac. This is a safe closed road traffic free event. You can enter as an individual or as a team relay.
Beginner Friendly Triathlons in East Midlands
The Coalville Triathlon is aimed at all levels of fitness and ability, the shorter distance option makes this event perfect for someone that taking in their first event. Whether it's your first triathlon or you are trying to improve on your previous performance .
This is the first year for the Coalville Triathlon and we are running the event to encourage people to take on the challenge of this great sport.
You can enter the event as an individual and complete all three disciplines over the standard or shorter distance, or as a relay team with friends or colleagues.
A pool based, beginner friendly triathlon with something for everyone. Sprint and Try-a-Tri distances with both options available as a relay too. New last year, the Bridge distance is back. It's designed to be the next step for triathletes that haven't quite got the confidence to go for a standard distance yet. There is also a fiercely competed inter-club championship, 4 to score. Brutal bike route and super fast, flat run course.
DERBY TRIATHLON is aimed at all levels of fitness and ability, whether its your first triathlon or you are the next Olympic hopeful. Last year we had an increase in first time competitors, with 55% of the field being new to the great fun sport of triathlon.
You can enter as an individual and complete all three disciplines on your own, the relay event with friends or colleagues and enjoy the race as a team or the corporate event where each team member completes the full triathlon.
The friendly atmosphere makes East Leake Triathlon a superb event for the first timer (each event we have over 150 first timers), whilst the fast flat course and distance makes for an excellent end to the season. Timing chips will be used, enabling you to view your time crossing the finish line and provide full accurate results/splits on the day.

What you need to know about Beginner Friendly Triathlons
If you’re just starting out, the best thing to do would be to book a Super Sprint or Sprint distance triathlon as these are the shortest two. There are lots of different ranges of abilities in triathlon so there’ll always be people actually ‘sprinting’ the Sprint distance but generally Sprints and Super Sprints are the best to get a feel for the sport. Different Triathlon event types
- Super sprint triathlon: 400m/10km/2.5km
- Sprint distance triathlon: 750m/20km/5km
- Olympic distance triathlon: 1500m/40km/10km
- Half Ironman triathlon: 1.9km/90km/21km
- Ironman distance triathlon: 3.8km/180km/42km
Triathlons are an all day affair, so get a group together and go to the pub for lunch afterwards. Our experience is that most events happen in cool areas such as Dorney Lake in Windsor, so it’s a great excuse to escape the city for the day. They draw good crowds, and you’ll always have people cheering you on. Super Sprints tend to be very quick, so depending on your fitness level, you might want to choose a Sprint distance so you have enough time to enjoy each stage of the race. On average, Sprint triathlons will be over and done within 1.45–2 hours so it’ll go by in a flash.
