Starting and finishing at Cartmel, the 5K Cartmel Sport Trail, 10K Cartmel Trail Run, 18K Cartmel Trail Challenge & 18K Cartmel Trail Race take you on off-road journeys through some of the most scenic and varied countryside in the Lake District, along a 'Beauty and Beast' of a course. The trails are mainly along waymarked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways, giving panoramic views of both Morecambe Bay and the surrounding peaks. Underfoot conditions are variable with a bit of everything. Good fast sections, but it can be very sticky in places, especially if wet!

Starting and finishing at Hawkshead, the 17km Hawkshead Trail Race, 17km Hawkshead Trail Challenge and 10km Hawkshead Trail Run follow circuits along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways, taking in panoramic views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding peaks of the Coniston Hills, the Langdales and most of the Lakeland fells. All of the routes take in the infamous, mile long, near vertical, killer climb of the "Coffin Trail"! Underfoot conditions are generally good, particularly for those used to off-road running.

Marathon & Half Marathon in Coniston

Starting and finishing at Coniston Hall Landing Point, on the shores of Coniston Water (LA21 8AS), the Lakeland Trails Marathon takes in a complete circuit of Coniston Water along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways. Taking in the idyllic beauty spot of Tarn Hows, and the elevated Beacon Tarn, the whole course gives panoramic views of Lake Coniston and the surrounding peaks of the Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags. Described by Runners' World magazine as 'the most scenic trail Marathon in Britain' this event is quickly becoming a classic European trail marathon.

For those wanting a shorter option, the Lakeland Trails Half Marathon utilises the first 17km section of the marathon course as far as Tarn Hows, before heading back to Coniston. The Lakeland Trails Mini Marathon 10K utilises the beautiful Torver Trail route from 2014, starting and finishing from Land's Point in Coniston.

The 55km Ultimate Trails Challenge is a testing 55km ultra marathon course through some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in the Lake District. The tough, challenging course will certainly live up to its billing as the most picturesque ultramarathon in the UK. The 55km route also includes 3 mountain passes, with 7,000 ft ascent/descent along with 5 memorable feed stations.

The NEW! 23km & 14km Ultimate Trails courses, utilise much of the final section of the 55km course, for those wanting a shorter trail run option

The start and finish arena will be quite a party, with entertainment, food stalls, trade and retail stands and PA commentary.

The course is fully waymarked and marshalled, with well stocked feed stations along the route. There are some great prizes on offer for the Race, and winners prizes in the veteran classes.

Starting and finishing at Fitz Park, in Keswick (CA12 4NF), the 5km Derwentwater Sport Trail, 10km Derwentwater Trail Run, 15km Derwentwater Trail Race and 15km Derwentwater Trail Challenge is a circuit along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways, taking in panoramic views of Derwentwater, the surrounding peaks of Skiddaw and Blencathra and the northern fells. Underfoot conditions are generally good for those used to trail running, but expect a bit of everything! The course has no stiles, so there is nothing but the hills and the infamous Glendereterra bogs to break up your rhythm.

Starting and finishing at Landing Point, Coniston Hall near Coniston village, the 10K Coniston Trail Run, 15K Coniston Trail Challenge and 15K Coniston Trail Race follow circuits along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways, taking in panoramic views of Lake Coniston and the surrounding peaks of the Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags. Underfoot conditions are generally good for those used to off road running, although there is one short 200m section after approx 4km on the 15km routes which only agile mountain goats will be able to run!

Starting from the Ullswater Pier at Glenridding (CA11 OUS), your journey starts with a beautiful half hour cruise aboard the Ullswater Steamer "Raven", which takes you to the start in the hamlet of Howtown, whilst being serenaded by singer/songwriter Pete Lashley. The 10km Ullswater Trail Run, 14km Ullswater Trail Race and 14km Ullswater Trail Challenge follow well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways along the lake shore, giving panoramic views of Helvellyn and the surrounding peaks, finishing in Jenkins Field, next to the Ullswater Pier. Much of the course passes through ancient woodland, which will be at its autumnal best. Underfoot conditions can be tricky at times, especially if wet.
