    Funds raised through the Best Buddies Challenge: Hearst Castle, presented by Pepsi-Cola benefit Best Buddies International, the worlds largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

    All participants receive a limited edition event jersey, premium gift bag, shower and massage, and admission to the post event party featuring a gourmet barbecue, open bar and private concert. Additional VIP benefits can be added as fundraising thresholds are reached.

    The Amtrak Century is a popular ride from Irvine to San Diego, on which riders return in an Amtrak Surfliner party train.

    The course starts at Irvine Amtrak Station and gradually ascends to Foothill Ranch. From here it descends to San Juan Capistrano and follows the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route through San Clemente to Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base.

    The ride then continues on the shoulder of Freeway 5 to Oceanside. It visits Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, and Del Mar, before climbing Torrey Pines. The route then follows the bike path down to San Diego. Finally it passes Spanish Landing Park, which offers great views of the skyline, before finishing at Santa Fe Station.

    You can expect an awesome and memorable day with Jens Voigt, arguably the most fun guy in pro cycling. You'll be treated to a Pro Tour level experience with on course neutral support. You'll ride along the world-class roads of Marin County, with notable views of Alpine Dam, Mount Tam, Stinson Beach, Bolinas, Point Reyes and Tomales Bay. We'll keep you fueled with fully staffed and stocked service stops. At the finish, you will enjoy the Finishers Village where you will be treated to a recovery meal, music and an ice cold local brew. All registered riders will also receive a swag bag with the official Gran Fondo rider guide, goodies from our participating sponsors and a Jensie Gran Fondo commemorative water bottle.

Riders can opt for the leisurely 40 mile course that winds through the resort and vineyard sections of north Lakeport; for the more adventuresome riders, the event also offers a 65 mile course which follows the north and east rim of Clear Lake. Finally, for those who just want to have a wonderful casual ride with a few friends and family we have our 20 mile family fun ride. This ride offers riders a very relaxing and picturesque view of Lake County and enough of a challenge for you to feel like you earned our world famous steak & chicken dinner when your done!
