The Colorado Springs Marathon presented by Centura Orthopedics, is a community running event that features a full marathon, half marathon, and 5k, beginning & ending at Acacia Park in downtown Colorado Springs. The course will showcase the city of Colorado Springs by taking runners on Wood Ave, Cascade Ave, Platte Ave, through America the Beautiful Park, Monument Valley Park, around Memorial Park, by the Olympic Training Center & through downtown. This family friendly race is a premiere endurance running event, attracting people from 38 different states.

Kickers For Kids Fun Run

This is a prediction run with a staggered start format. When you register, you predict your finish time for the 5K course. The clock is set to the highest predicted finish time of all the runners and set to count down. As the clock reaches the prediction time of each runner, that runner starts running.

Step Up For Literacy 5K and Kids 1K

Join in the fun as we partner with Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC

This Timed event is designed for the entire family in support of the Children's Literacy Center.

The Childrens Literacy Center, based in Colorado Springs, offers one-to-one tutoring to students reading below grade level at No Cost To Families! We match each student with a community volunteer trained in the Peak Reader Program. Tutoring sessions are one hour, twice a week, for 12 weeks during the fall and spring and six weeks during the summer.

What you need to know about Beginner Friendly Running Events

Whether you’re completely new to running or just getting back into the swing of things, we’ve got some great race recommendations to get you started. Chosen by our team, these are some of our favourite events for first-timers. 5k races & 10k races are perfect for beginners, they tend to be relatively flat (always check the elevation just in case) and there’ll usually be a great crowd to cheer you on.

Find the right running event for you

To keep motivated try to run with friends and to organise a race a few months away as something to work towards. Running as a sport is very inclusive, people love to chat and give a boost to those around them! Practice makes perfect so with the right training you can achieve anything. Start small and it won’t be long before you’re a total professional tackling the bigger races.
