Not a fan of out-and-back courses in general, but the hill made it very challenging! The organizers did a great job of getting the simultaneous races started on the road before getting to the trails, but it there were still some tight spots on the paths, especially after the turnaround.
Love this race for the fact that it is entirely through the park! If you need a lot of "cheerleaders" along the way, this is not the race for you, but there are plenty of water stations, friendly volunteers, and beautiful atmosphere. The hill climb around mile 10 is tough, so leave se gas in the tank for it, but the last 2 miles are downhill and flat so you can fly towards the finish line. If you have family and friends that want to come cheer you on, they can hang out at Pope lick park. They will see you at mile 4 and 9, and they have plenty of time to drive to the finish. Perks.... Awesome quarter zip race shirts, and good wood beer and derby pie and the finish!
