What you need to know about Running

Running is the world’s most accessible sport. Park runs, colour runs, 5k, 10k, half marathons, marathons and ultras — all you need is a pair of trainers and off you go. Running events are hugely popular on Let’s Do This and it’s a sociable sport, so get some friends involved and achieve something extraordinary.

If you’re starting small, the 5k and 10k events are great fun and definitely worth doing even if you’re training for a bigger challenge further down the line. Getting used to the atmosphere of an event is important. You’re so much more likely to hit a better time if there’s a crowd cheering you on, people in fancy dress and a big celebration at the finish line.

10k Races in Leicester April 2019

The accurately measured 10K course starts on Blackstock Street approximately 250 metres before the KingswayTunnel emergency access road.

After a sharp u turn off the emergency exit runners then begin the gentle 1 mile descent under the River Mersey. The Tunnel entrance marks the 1K point with markers for 2K and 3K positioned inside the Tunnel.

Around 2.5K runners notice the descent level off before staring the long, slow ascent out of the Tunnel and into the daylight on the Wirral side of the river.

Leaving the Tunnel via the Emergency exit on the left hand side (before the toll booths) runners move on to Oakdale Road and a welcome slight downhill section at 4K. This was the half way point in previous years but the 5K point (and water station) is now at the car park just behind the Mersey Ferry terminal on Birkenhead Road.

The second half of the course is as flat as it comes with the full 5K distance from the Wallasey Ferry terminal to the finish at New Brighton running alongside the River Mersey.

When the going gets tough the tough get going with some participants attacking the final stretch whilst others just take the promenade in their stride.

The second drinks station is located near to the 7K at the bottom of the Manor Road.

The finish is now located on Ian Fraser Walk behind the Marine Point retail park. This means runners will continue along the full length of the promenade and then pass on to the public highway at Marine Promenade, past the Floral Pavilion and along the lake pathway past Perch Rock and then on to Ian Fraser Walk to finish.

The Jurassic trail is not only a visually spectacular run along the Jurassic coast but also a challenge that some would class as undulating. The run has four route options and dependent on your choice depends on how much of a challenge you will have.

5km
Starting just next to Marsh barn, in the old pitch and putt gravel area the trail run takes us through the beautiful golf club and onto freshwater its flat for the first 3 km which is where the Aid station is located, after this the route follows the Jurassic coastal path through freshwater and you return to West Bay (Marsh Barn) along the Jurassic cliffs, and the views along the coastline.

10km
Again Starting just next to Marsh barn, in the old pitch and putt gravel area the trail run takes us through the beautiful golf club and onto freshwater its flat for the first 3 km which is where the first Aid station is located, after this the route follows the Jurassic coastal path out to Hive beach, Burton Bradstock, before we head westwards and then follow the path back to the Aid station at 8 km, its cliff path, and sea views all the way back to West Bay (Marsh Barn) along the Jurassic cliffs.

Half Marathon 21.1km
The Half marathon is a test in places and not to be taken lightly , starting just next to Marsh barn, in the old pitch and putt gravel area the trail run takes us through the beautiful golf club and onto freshwater its flat for the first 3 km which is where the First Aid station is located, after this we meet our first hill, its short and sharp.
At the top we get our first glimpse of the sea before we head for Burton Bradstock's hive beach, once through the fields, we follow the coastline and head inland for a km, and the second feed at 10 km before heading back towards Hive beach, its all downhill and is track and trail.
We link back up with the 10 km route here and head towards the third feed at 17 km, this is when the fun really begins, once on the cliff path, you will realize why we have chosen this location,
its simply breathtaking, and the views (If there is no mist) are to die for, Its the Jurassic coast at its most superb.
The first parts of the Half are relatively flat but its the Jurassic coast so at some point its an up and down challenge that is not for the faint hearted.

Marathon 42.2km
An addition to the 2019 event will see us add a full trail marathon, its tough, very tough, and the cut off at 18.5 km will be strictly enforced,
but for those that are up for the challenge, come and run spectacular scenery.
