What you need to know about Running

Running is the world’s most accessible sport. Park runs, colour runs, 5k, 10k, half marathons, marathons and ultras — all you need is a pair of trainers and off you go. Running events are hugely popular on Let’s Do This and it’s a sociable sport, so get some friends involved and achieve something extraordinary.

If you’re starting small, the 5k and 10k events are great fun and definitely worth doing even if you’re training for a bigger challenge further down the line. Getting used to the atmosphere of an event is important. You’re so much more likely to hit a better time if there’s a crowd cheering you on, people in fancy dress and a big celebration at the finish line.

If theres something we like here at Phoenix Running (if you hadnt noticed) its a BIG medal. We also like to collect our race numbers from events that we run in ourselves. When youve run a marathon or two with your race number flapping in the wind, it somehow feels right for it to be part of things. So that got us thinking What about a race number that actually becomes part of your finishers medal. and there you have it the first and only race number / medal combo.

Please note to qualify for the MEGA medal, you have to COMPLETE BOTH DAYS MARATHONS. Each day is a separate event and you get one of our classic PHOENIX finishers medal if you just do one of the days. But if you complete both marathons, then on the second day your finishers medal will be the MEGA Its a Numbers Game Medal at a whopping 220m x 180mm x 5mm thick.

The Surrey Bacchus Marathon and Half Marathon returns - your chance to enjoy Englands premier Wine Marathon with six tasting stations over the Half Marathon and twelve over the full Marathon.

Half of the route is inside the beautiful Denbies Wine Estate and the other half through National Trust Countryside and woodland along the Pilgrims Way and North Downs Way. It's a demanding route, but you'll have suitable respite at each of the sampling stations, then at the finish enjoy the party at the Hog Roast (Not included for the childrens run)

New for 2018 we introduce a 5 mile event that you can run, jog or walk. The route will be within Denbies Vineyard, through the vines and offers magnificent views - one wine sample station will be reached and the Hog Roast is included. This is a non-competitive activity and will not have timing - it's just a chance to enjoy the day.

Ultramarathon events in London September 2018

The St Albans Stampede is an ultra marathon running event, organised by the St Albans Striders running club, held in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, covering parts of Heartwood Forest and Nomansland Common. The challenge is to cover the most amount of distance (in miles) over a designated time period of 12hrs 9am - 9pm this can be undertaken solo, as a pair or as a team relay (4 - 8 people options), and is suitable for all abilities! The course is a 4 mile route and it's up to you, or your team how you tackle it to get the most miles clocked!

The event was a fantastic success last year with runners enjoying the beautiful countryside and great HQ atmosphere - open all day for food, cakes, viewing photo's or just resting!

Its worth noting that the category winners will be awarded on distance covered only. In other words, you dont have to run the full 12hrs to have successfully completed the challenge. The 12hr duration is simply the maximum allowable time. All entrants, even those that run for 1-2hrs, will have successfully participated in the event and be awarded a medal for their efforts. And if participants from the 100 Marathon Club want to stop at marathon distance to record a successful completion, this is very much acceptable.
