What you need to know about Running

Running is the world’s most accessible sport. Park runs, colour runs, 5k, 10k, half marathons, marathons and ultras — all you need is a pair of trainers and off you go. Running events are hugely popular on Let’s Do This and it’s a sociable sport, so get some friends involved and achieve something extraordinary.

If you’re starting small, the 5k and 10k events are great fun and definitely worth doing even if you’re training for a bigger challenge further down the line. Getting used to the atmosphere of an event is important. You’re so much more likely to hit a better time if there’s a crowd cheering you on, people in fancy dress and a big celebration at the finish line.

Bovingdon Parish 10k & Fun Run

This year we are offering 800 runners the opportunity to run a 10K on our historic airfield site. 2018 is a big year for the Royal Air Force and for the Museum. We have three new exhibitions and a beautiful landscaped site, evoking the London Aerodrome from 100 year ago. You will start under the Sunderland and run through the site and then continue around the streets of Colindale, before coming back on site to finish on our taxiway.

At the end of the race you will be awarded with an exclusive Spitfire 10K medal, which will be extra special for 2018 as this year will be the centenary of the Royal Air Force.

T-shirts can be ordered when you purchase your Spitfire 10K entry and will be available for collection on the day. The deadline to pre-order your t-shirt is Sunday 12 August 2018.

The 2018 design will be released in the next few months so watch this space.

Ultramarathon events in Luton September 2018

The St Albans Stampede is an ultra marathon running event, organised by the St Albans Striders running club, held in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, covering parts of Heartwood Forest and Nomansland Common. The challenge is to cover the most amount of distance (in miles) over a designated time period of 12hrs 9am - 9pm this can be undertaken solo, as a pair or as a team relay (4 - 8 people options), and is suitable for all abilities! The course is a 4 mile route and it's up to you, or your team how you tackle it to get the most miles clocked!

The event was a fantastic success last year with runners enjoying the beautiful countryside and great HQ atmosphere - open all day for food, cakes, viewing photo's or just resting!

Its worth noting that the category winners will be awarded on distance covered only. In other words, you dont have to run the full 12hrs to have successfully completed the challenge. The 12hr duration is simply the maximum allowable time. All entrants, even those that run for 1-2hrs, will have successfully participated in the event and be awarded a medal for their efforts. And if participants from the 100 Marathon Club want to stop at marathon distance to record a successful completion, this is very much acceptable.

Donate 48 or pledge to raise as much as you can instead of paying to enter an ultra marathon - saving & changing the lives of children in developing countries who desperately need surgery.
The XNRG Tring Ultra is a unique chance to get a place on an amazing one day ultra for FREE if you fundraise for a Humanity Direct patient, or donate 48.
After a successful Humanity Direct Ultra in 2017, XNRG are partnering with the charity funding vital operations for little children again on 22nd September 2018.

Starting and finishing at the Tring Cricket Club, HP23 5NG, the 31-mile route takes in many areas of natural beauty in the Chilterns, including Ashridge Forest, the Grand Union Canal and Wendover Woods. You'll run on National Trails and Footpaths, which have excellent markings in the form of signposts or post discs, along with our own signs and confidence tape. The event is supported by a course manager to maintain event safety and a fully qualified medical crew will be in attendance throughout.
