What you need to know about Running

Running is the world’s most accessible sport. Park runs, colour runs, 5k, 10k, half marathons, marathons and ultras — all you need is a pair of trainers and off you go. Running events are hugely popular on Let’s Do This and it’s a sociable sport, so get some friends involved and achieve something extraordinary.

If you’re starting small, the 5k and 10k events are great fun and definitely worth doing even if you’re training for a bigger challenge further down the line. Getting used to the atmosphere of an event is important. You’re so much more likely to hit a better time if there’s a crowd cheering you on, people in fancy dress and a big celebration at the finish line.

10k Races in Manchester

Join us for our new Thursday evening event running around Media City in Salford. Starting and finishing in the centre of Media City you will head out around a 2.5km loop that runs over the canal and runs past the imperial war museum along with the ITV and BBC television studios.

Each kilometre will be accurately marked out and we have plenty of helpers to encourage you on your way to the finish line. Included in your entry fee is a themed medal, water and post race goodies. Come and enjoy the day with us; we hope to see you there!

Set to hit the streets on Sunday 16th September, the Bury 10K is popular with people of all abilities.

The Bury 10K is staged in partnership with the Bury-based I Will If You Will (IWIYW) fitness movement, which is delivered by Bury Council with Lottery funds from Sport England.

Starting and finishing close to The Rock, the course is suitable for all ages and abilities from beginners just starting out on their fitness journey to experienced fast runners looking for a personal best. Click here to explore the route in more detail.

Marathon events in Manchester

Starting from the beautiful village of Langsett, this new and exciting race will twist and wind you through some of the most scenic forest trails in the Peak District National park.

From there you will hit a single track that changes in elevation several times, from the top of this climb you will be greeted to a spectacular technical decent which will land you right into the heart of the Derwent valley.

With gentle rolling tracks along the Derwent water, you will eventually be hit head-on with some tough gritty climbs onto the outer edges of the Derwent valley.

This will lead you to the final climb onto the last ridge before you descend back to the finish for a well-earned cuppa!!!!

Navigation skills essential, lower parts of the course will be marked. A GPX file will be available to download and map of the route will be available on the website to print also the map will be handed out at registration.

The ASICS Greater Manchester marathon in Trafford on the same super fast course that is the flattest marathon course in the UK and one of the flattest in the world.

For 2018, the race village will be at Emirates Old Trafford, the home of Lancashire Cricket Club and will be sited on the car park in front of the stadium. You will start the race just a short walk away on the A56 White City Roundabout and finish on Talbot Road outside Emirates Old Trafford. The venue change is in line with our growth plans for the event and now allows us to have an 8m wide finish giving you a spectacular finale to your great day.

Some highlights of the route:

- The flattest marathon course in the UK - flatter than London, Edinburgh, New York, Chicago and many others
- Perfect PB course
- The race village situated at Emirates Old Trafford, the home of Lancashire County Cricket Club, on the car park in front of the pavilion.
- The race will start on the A56 near the White City roundabout, a short walk from the race village at Emirates Old Trafford
- Awesome entertainment and support along the course - see the comments page to hear what our runners said
- The route will be held entirely on closed, main roads
- More of the route in Altrincham where the crowd support was amazing
- We have a new 8m wide finish outside Emirates Old Trafford, Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC) on Talbot Road

At our 2017 event 86% of the top 50 recorded a PB or SB and 50% of the top 250 got a PB. This race is YOUR best chance to get a marathon PB!

2018 will see the 10th Anniversary English Half Marathon on Sunday 16th September in Warrington, Cheshire. This year will once again take in the spectacular Golden Gates finish!

Every Half Marathon and a 10k runner will receive a medal, t-shirt, and goodies at the finish line. Runners and spectators will also have access to a special event village with a bar, live music and so much more!

With great success from lasts year inaugural Dark Peaks 30 Ultra Trail, and some fantastic feedback from competitors.
Being described by the elite field of runners as one of the best but hardest 30 mile ultras they have ever raced and truly a classic in the making. We where excited to bring this event back!!!

Starting from the village of Hope, This Ultra will take you into the heart of the Peak District national park, where the total elevation will be well over 7000ft!!

Starting off on the iconic Pennine way you will soon be greeted with some brutal climbs, high ridge lines and fast technical descending, with the time of year and the nature of this course this one will surely push you to your limits!!
