What you need to know about Running

Running is the world’s most accessible sport. Park runs, colour runs, 5k, 10k, half marathons, marathons and ultras — all you need is a pair of trainers and off you go. Running events are hugely popular on Let’s Do This and it’s a sociable sport, so get some friends involved and achieve something extraordinary.

If you’re starting small, the 5k and 10k events are great fun and definitely worth doing even if you’re training for a bigger challenge further down the line. Getting used to the atmosphere of an event is important. You’re so much more likely to hit a better time if there’s a crowd cheering you on, people in fancy dress and a big celebration at the finish line.

10k Races in Portsmouth August 2018

A new course for 2018 as the Wickham 10k moves south to the outskirts of the village. Starting in Mill Lane, outside the Community Hall, with plenty of parking, toilets and a nag drop. The route is hilly and all on road (closures applied for).

The Wickham 10k is the final race in the 3 race Meon Valley Villages series.

After the race there will be a prize giving in the nearby (2 minute walk) Roebuck Inn. We have been given permission to use the car park beyond the normal closing time so your car will be safe until after the presentations at The Roebuck Inn.

Parking is in Upperford Copse Car Park, Heath Road, Wickham. It is a Pay & Display Car Park run by the Forestry Commission. The Start/Finish is also just a 5 minute walk from the car park via the Meon Valley Trail.

5k Races in Portsmouth August 2018

The Absolute Gosport 5k Summer Series returns to the south coast after another fantastic year in 2016. This fast, out and back promenade run using an accurately measured 5k course is ideal for beginners and experienced runners alike.

This is race three of the five race series, with the final race in the series on September 9th. You can enter each race individually or save money and buy a three or four race season ticket.

Medals for all finishers plus prizes for race winners and winners of vet categories 1 to 7 plus a special series prize for the 1st male and female. Series points based on best three results.

Children's 1k sprint at each race at 7.15.

This popular series, which also incorporates the Alexandra Sports Inter-Club Challenge, takes place within the Lakeside North Harbour Complex. All the races start at 7.15pm.
The individual series is based on the best 3 performances and the team series is based on all 5 races. Every finisher scores a point for their team and the top 10 male and female finishers in each race are awarded bonus points, 10 to the winners to 1 for 10th place. There awards for the top 8 teams in the Inter-Club Challenge. In addition, there are prizes for the 1st 3 male and female finishers in each race. You can enter the series or individual races either online, by post or on the night. There is a discount for pre-entering the series.
