I have three memorable moments of the race: 1. Running through the hay; I felt at one with nature and so free! 2. My worst fear becoming reality; slipping in the mud and another runner giving me her hand to help me up as I was (pardon the pun) stuck in the mud! 3. Wondering how I was going to get through a particularly muddy section and deciding to embrace the mud and running through it! It was Liberating.
It sounded so exciting from the get go and had I not attended I would have had some serious FOMO! I entered to run my first trail race and to be part of a historic, first time event.
I've been running for 22 years. I got into it by one day venturing outside after only ever running on the treadmill. I did my first race (Flora 5K in Hyde Park) in 1999, I loved it and have been hooked ever since.
Running is what I do for me. I love how running makes me feel. It makes me feel powerful, strong and at one with nature. It gives me a sense of belonging to a fabulous community and having races on my calendar gives my training real purpose.
