Just half an hour south lies San Diego, with its world-famous zoo, parks, and other attractions to fill a spring break vacation. This race offers one of the few chances athletes have to swim in the Oceanside Harbor, where water temperatures in early spring are usually in the low to mid 60's.

The bike course takes cyclists along the California coastline to San Clemente, before dropping down into the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. Here, challenging hills confront athletes before they swing back to the Oceanside Harbor.

The run portion takes athletes on a winding journey out to Oceanside's flat beachfront path known as "The Strand," where miles of sandy beaches provide a beautiful and distracting vista. Runners then turn into a residential area before looping back out for a grand finish at the ocean's edge and a chute lined with energetic spectators.

More than half of the race volunteers come from units at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. The presence of so many men and women serving in the U.S. Marine Corps is always a source of pride for race participants.

This early spring race is characterized by humid, windy conditions, though at this time of year, the scorching Texas heat is less of a factor. The surrounding area offers attractions for families, including the famous Moody Gardens with its pink, blue, and white glass pyramids housing a 10-story rainforest, and one of the worlds largest aquariums. If hot temperatures do make an appearance, the Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark is a popular option. Stay an extra day and walk along The Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier, explore one of the many museums, take a fishing trip, or peruse the shops along the Strand historic district.

Athletes begin their day with a 1.2-mile, one-loop saltwater swim in Offats Bayou, staged at Moody Gardens' Palm Beach Hotel. The 56-mile bike course takes cyclists on a one-loop ride along the Texas Gulf Coast, known for its gusty winds. The 13.1-mile, three-loop run is fast and flat, taking athletes through Moody Gardens and along Offats Bayou. The finish is next to the majestic Colonel Paddlewheel Boat. "The course is pretty forgiving and makes the perfect early season race," says race director Scott Langen. "Many use it as a barometer to gauge their fitness leading into IRONMAN Texas."

Memorial Hermann Ironman 70.3 Texas

Its three-loop course makes it one of the best races on the 70.3 circuit for spectators, who have multiple chances to cheer on their loved ones, all while enjoying two playgrounds, water slides, a kiddie pool, food vendors and the IRONMAN village.

Distances are the same as the half Ironman. The swim starts on the Jetty and takes competitors along the beach. The Cycle will take competitors off the Island along scenic Essex country lanes and over Abberton Reservoir before heading back to the Transition to begin the final leg. The Run for this event is effectively half a Marathon in distance.

Our unique Middle Distance Triathlon finishes with the run, around Mersea Island, the run distance is the exact circumference of Mersea Island. This is a flat triathlon but the terrain is a mixture of road, sand and seawall making it a unique but challenging course.

This is a great event for the more experience triathlete but is also a challenge for endurance lovers. It is also a fantastic event to enter as a relay team. Corporate packages are available.

The debut Outlaw Half Holkham event in 2016 received 99.5% positive feedback and was an instant hit at the beautiful Holkham Estate. 2017 was bigger and better! The event takes place over a stunning course covering a 1.2 mile lake swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run, which can be completed as an individual or relay team of three competitors.

The Holkham Estate and its magnificent eighteenth century hall provide a stunning backdrop to the swim, both transitions and the run. The bike course is a single loop taking in the coastal road, quiet country roads and some faster roads. The run does feature some climbs across three loops around the Estate.

There is on-site camping organised specifically for competitors and their family and friends, camping is only permitted in Holkham twice a year, so this is a fantastic opportunity. There are various types of accommodation in the area, but this is a popular holiday destination, so please book early!

This will be a very high quality racing experience, and an escape from everyday life. Holkham is one of Britain's tourist gems, and we're delighted to be able to return for a third year.

The rapturous reception afforded to previous Castle Howard Triathlons subsequently led to the expansion of a 2-day weekend extravaganza.

In its 9th year, the Castle Howard Triathlon will be the 4th weekend event of the 2018 Castle Tri Series and will once again feature the obligatory picture postcard backdrop and a course with something for every level of triathlete. The 13,000 acre grounds of Castle Howard form arguably the most physically demanding triathlon course of the Castle Tri Series.

Race entrants will start the race by swimming through Castle Howards Great Lake before transitioning into the technical bike route through the glorious rural idyll of Yorkshire and the Howardian Hills. The spectacular run leg passes through the undulating countryside of the estate before a sprint finish tops everything off in style right in front of the main doors of the house. Theres never been a better time to visit Gods Own County and Castle Howard.

The construction of Castle Howard took more than 100 years before being finally completed in the 18th Century, and spanned the lifetime of three earls and numerous architects, although Sir John Vanbrugh is credited with the original design. The Great Lake is the setting for the swim section of the triathlon.

Set in the Howardian Hills, the bike legs initially take in the 18th Century Avenue, a main road that runs in a straight line from south to north for five miles. The run will pass The Temple of the Four Winds and one of the finest, free-standing mausoleums in Europe. A hop over New River Bridge, a circumnavigation of South Lake and the Atlas Fountain will take racers to the finishing straight in front of Castle Howard itself.

Castle Howard has been a regular backdrop for films and television, with both ITVs lauded Brideshead Revisited in the early 1980s and the acclaimed 2008 feature film production shot on location here, hence the name of our adult races.

One of the most storied North American races, IRONMAN Florida began in November, 1999. It takes place in Panama City Beach, which is known for pristine beaches and moderate fall temperatures. Just as the summer season winds down, it's the perfect time of year to visit northwest Floridaand the event is as much a destination vacation as it is a race.

The swim takes place in the Gulf of Mexico, where athletes will have a short beach run in between laps. Waters are typically in the mid 70's, allowing athletes to wear wetsuits. The two-loop swim course gives spectators a bird's eye view of the entire course.

After exiting the water, athletes are challenged by a fast, flat, one-loop bicycle course. The terrain pushes the body in a way most athletes are not accustomed to: the absence of rolling hills or steep inclines forces consistent pacing. Winds are typically light in the morning, but become more challenging later in the day.

The two-loop run course, while flat, has many turns throughout the local neighborhoods. In the spectator-friendly area, thousands of residents and visitors emerge for fall get-togethers while supporting the competitors. The course also winds through St. Andrew's State Park, a favorite among participants for its shaded areas and wildlife. After the second loop, athletes round the last corner for the final quarter mile to the finish.

The 2017 IRONMAN Florida offers 40 qualifying slots for the 2018 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Expect a laid-back, enjoyable, well organised and friendly event. Yep, it'll be challenging but achievable, fun, tough in places, and might also have a few hills and a bit of water/mud!. You've been warned!.There will be two courses - note: we've toned down the technical difficulty on the Short Fast Durty bike course - it will largely be forest roads and easy tracks, but we'll probably chuck a little bit of easy and fun singletrack in as well. The Long Hard Durty will have some more technical (Red & Black standard) stuff in the mix as well as forest roads/easy tracks. We're taking Solo or Relay (team of 3 - one person does the Swim, one the Bike and one the Run) entries for both races.
