This striking Southwestern home of one of IRONMAN's original full-distance races now hosts one of the season's earliest IRONMAN 70.3 races.

The race is staged in and around the heart of St. George, with Zion National Park only 45 minutes away by car. On the opposite end of the spectrum, St. George is only two hours from the nightlife of Las Vegas, with its never-ending entertainment options.

The swim is held a few miles away in pristine Sand Hollow Reservoir. The bike and run courses are two of the most challenging on the IRONMAN 70.3 circuit, but what goes up must come down, which means epic descends. Both courses present spectacular views of downtown St. George, Snow Canyon, and the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve. The Snow Canyon climb is lined with motivational posters from the local tri clubs, helping to ease the difficulty of the physical task at hand. Plus, returning athletes and newcomers alike will be pleased to learn that the first eight miles of the bike course through Snow Canyon have been repaved and are now "buttery smooth."

IRONMAN Lanzarote is one of the longest-standing races in Europe. A Unesco biosphere reserve, Lanzarote is a captivating island with 300 volcanic cones. There are tropical beaches, interesting sights, and a plethora of restaurants and hotels. The landscape is starkly beautiful, reminiscent of the black lava fields of Kona, intermixed with tropical beachside scenes. Over the past few years, marked walking trails and rural accommodation options have increased. The islands major sights have been aesthetically developed by the late Csar Manrique, a Lanzarote native and artist.

On race day, the event's two-lap swim course takes place at Playa Grande, Puerto del Carmen, the main tourist resort of the island. The bike course is well known for challenging athletes with strong winds, and leads athletes around the island with over 2551 meters of climbing. Participants will enjoy amazing views and will have lots of support from volunteers along the way. Finally, the 3-lap run course leads competitors along the flat sea front of Puerto del Carmen, towards the airport and back. Athletes will enjoy beautiful views of the ocean under the intense Lanzarote sun, while feeling the impressive support of thousands of spectators lining the streets.
