Ironman Triathlons in Southend-on-Sea November 2018

One of the most storied North American races, IRONMAN Florida began in November, 1999. It takes place in Panama City Beach, which is known for pristine beaches and moderate fall temperatures. Just as the summer season winds down, it's the perfect time of year to visit northwest Floridaand the event is as much a destination vacation as it is a race.

The swim takes place in the Gulf of Mexico, where athletes will have a short beach run in between laps. Waters are typically in the mid 70's, allowing athletes to wear wetsuits. The two-loop swim course gives spectators a bird's eye view of the entire course.

After exiting the water, athletes are challenged by a fast, flat, one-loop bicycle course. The terrain pushes the body in a way most athletes are not accustomed to: the absence of rolling hills or steep inclines forces consistent pacing. Winds are typically light in the morning, but become more challenging later in the day.

The two-loop run course, while flat, has many turns throughout the local neighborhoods. In the spectator-friendly area, thousands of residents and visitors emerge for fall get-togethers while supporting the competitors. The course also winds through St. Andrew's State Park, a favorite among participants for its shaded areas and wildlife. After the second loop, athletes round the last corner for the final quarter mile to the finish.

The 2017 IRONMAN Florida offers 40 qualifying slots for the 2018 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Langkawi Island, the Jewel of Kedah, is set to host IRONMAN Malaysia again in 2017.

Located within a cluster of tropical islands that attract visitors the world over, the race will take athletes on a truly Malaysian cultural journey through tropical, hilly and demanding terrain passing traditional kampungs (villages), mangrove clusters and rainforest vistas.

The ocean swim starts from the picturesque white sandy beach of Pantai Kok with a two-loop triangle out and back course. A two-loop bike course heads out of Pantai Kok on to a clockwise loop from towards the rolling hills of Datai and the fringes of Kuah Town. Athletes will return from the bike into an unique indoor air conditioned transition at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Center (next to the airport) . The 2 lap run course will be an amazing scenic run beside the Langkawi International Airport towards the finish line at the stunning Cenang beach.

There are 50 qualifying slots to the 2018 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

This race stands out as one of the most urban races in North America.

The race kicks off with a single-loop swim in Tempe Town Lake. The rolling start is just west of the Mill Avenue bridge and begins by heading east. The rectangular course will go just past Rural Road bridge and first turn north and then west all the way back under the Mill Avenue bridges, where another turn south will put athletes on course to head straight back to shore and transition at Tempe Beach Park.

The relatively flat three-loop course heads out of Tempe and zig-zags out to the Beeline Highway, which gradually climbs approximately 10 miles through the Sonoran Desert to the turnaround just before Shea Boulevard. Athletes then return to Tempe Beach Park to start their second and third laps.

The run course is flat and spectator-friendly with a few small rollers, as athletes wind their way around Tempe Town Lake and through Papago Park. Athletes should be sure to pack a visor or hat in their T2 bags, as the course offers very little shade.
