Run this beautiful oceanfront half marathon or 5k race, where the flat and fast route offers a perfect opportunity to set a new PB. With incredible support and entertainment along the course, and plenty of treats and goodies at the finish line, this is not a race to be missed.

How to enter the Encinitas Half Marathon & 5K

Encinitas Half Marathon & 5K routes

5K:

The route starts along the same course as the Half Marathoners. The out-and-back course on Hwy 101 passes Swami's and Encinitas Boat Houses before turning back.

Half Marathon:

The course starts and finishes near Moonlight Beach and heads south onto Hwy 101. The flat route continutes before turning around at Via de la Valle. There is then a out-and-back section north of the finishing area, up towards Leucadia Blvd. There will be 12 aid stations on the course.

  • 10:00 - Expo Bib Pick-up opens at Encinitas Community Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Dr, Encinitas, CA 92024
  • 18:00 - Expo Bib Pick-up closes

Sunday 29th March:

  • 07:30 - Half Marathon starts
  • 07:40 - 5K race starts
  • 08:55 - Cut-off for 5K race
  • 09:30 - Prize-giving
  • 11:00 - Cut-off for Half Marathon

Spectators are strongly encouraged to come along and create a great race day atmosphere.

No volunteer are required for this event.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a cut-off time?
Yes, participants must run at a minimum of 16 minutes per mile 5k: must finish within 1hr15mins Half Marathon: must finish within 3hr30mins
Are there pacers for the half marathon?
Yes, there will be pacers for runners aiming for the following times: 1:30, 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45, 3:00, 3:15 & 3:30.
Can I bring my dog?
No, sadly dogs and pets are not allowed on the course.
Can I wear headphones?
You are allowed to listen to music while you run, but please keep the volume low enough that you can hear instructions from marshals and your fellow runners.
Can I collect my race-bib on raceday?
Yes, you can collect your bib on the morning of the race, at an extra cost of $20. It is advised to collect your bib from the community center on Friday or Saturday.
What facilities are on the course?
As well as aid stations fully stocked with hydration and nutrition, there are portable toilets and medical support vehicles throughout the course.
Is there an age limit?
Yes, for the Half Marathon, runners must be at least 13 years old. If runners are under 18, they must have a parent/guardian-signed waiver.
What is virtual entry?
If you cannot attend the event, but you still want to join in, you can run the same distance at any place and time of your choice. Your results will be uploaded online, and you will receive your finisher's medal and shirt in the mail.
