Route information
Athletes are responsible to study and know the course. The race has 14 separate events and 2 different starting points. Every event that includes a swim discipline starts at the beach. The 5k/10k and Duathlon events start at the race finish line. It is highly recommended that athletes familiarize themselves with the bike and run course by driving or riding it prior to the race if possible. There is a pre race clinic which includes a preview of both the Sprint & Olympic bike course.
The Sprint swim goes out and around the small pier at the event, turning right at the first buoy and right again at the second. The Olympic swim turns left at the first buoy, swimming around 235 yards to the second buoy, turning right and swimming around 150 yards to buoy three, turning right again and swimming past buoy four to buoy five for around 630 yards, before turning right once more and swimming into the shore.
The Sprint & Olympic bike course follow the same route, with the Sprint distance completing it once and the Olympic distance completing it twice. Participants start by heading south on S Marina Ave, then turning left onto W Imperial Hwy, then left again onto Pershing Dr, then right onto Westchester Pkwy. After around 5 Miles on Westchester Pkwy, participants will return along the same route they came on, going up and down Vista Del Mar once (Olympic participants will repeat the course at this point) before returning to the start line via S Marina Ave.
The Sprint & Olympic run course follow the same route, with the Sprint distance completing it once and the Olympic distance completing it twice. Participants starts at the transition area, leaving the car park and going out and back, turning around at the intersection with Surf St.
