2023 Veterans VA5K

Join us for the 8th annual Veterans VA5K on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 1pm in Lexington. Our in-person event will take place at the Lexington VA Health Care System Franklin R. Sousley Campus. And for those who can't join us in person on November 5th, we also have a virtual option! By participating in our race, you will be supporting the Lexington VA Medical Center Volunteer Program and the Lexington Fisher House, which provides lodging for the families of veterans being treated at the medical center. We are proud to have the Lexington Division of Community Corrections and Columbia Gas of Kentucky, along with its NiVets employee resource group, as our presenting and coordinating sponsors. Here are some of the exciting features of our race: - We have a closed, relatively flat 5K course on the paved surface of the VA Medical Center Campus. - The race will be chip timed, thanks to RaceRise. - There will be overall and age group awards. - We have special AUSA Military Cash Prizes in various categories. - We offer team pricing for groups of 10 or more. - All participants will receive commemorative race t-shirts and free race photos. - Whether you prefer to run or walk, you can choose to participate in the in-person 5K or the virtual option. - And of course, there will be music, snacks, and fellowship to make the event even more enjoyable! Packet pickup for the race will take place on Friday, November 3rd from 3:00-5:00pm under the RaceRise tent near the flagpole in front of the VA Center. Packet pickup will also be available on race day from 10:30am-12:30pm at the same location. Virtual participants will receive their packet by U.S. mail. We have awards for the top 3 male and female overall finishers, as well as the top 3 finishers in each age division. The age divisions range from 10 & under to 80+. For our special AUSA Military Cash Prizes, we have different categories and cash prizes for each category. Please note that virtual participant winners will need official team leader certification of their time to be eligible for prizes. On race day, registration and packet pickup will be from 10:30am-12:30pm at the Sousley campus. Activities for participants and their families will start at 12:30pm, and the timed race will begin at 1pm. The awards ceremony and door prize presentations will follow at 2pm (or as soon as times are tabulated). Registered participants will have access to coffee and hot chocolate before the race, and refreshments will be provided after the race.
