About
Are you ready for a fantastic sports event that will get your adrenaline pumping? Look no further than the Burns Park Run in beautiful Ann Arbor, near the University of Michigan campus. This incredible loop course has been a favorite among beginner and world-class runners alike. Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 5th, 2024, because that's when the Burns Park Run will take place. This event has been a long-standing success, organized and run entirely by volunteers who are passionate about supporting Burns Park Elementary PTO programs. And guess what? We're thrilled to celebrate our 46th anniversary this year! The Burns Park Run is renowned for its family-friendly atmosphere, drawing in 1,000 to 1,500 runners aged 5 to 90 years old every year. We even have over 200 elementary school kids participating in the 5K race. And for our youngest participants, we have a separate 1/2 mile Fun Run around the park just for them. But that's not all! Everyone who completes the timed events, including the 5K (Run and Walk) and 10K, will receive a well-deserved finisher medal. And wait until you hear about the awards ceremony! It'll take place right after the Fun Run at approximately 10am, where we'll recognize additional awards for various categories. If you're interested in getting a race T-shirt as a souvenir, you'll be pleased to know that it's optional and available for purchase during registration or through our event store on the Run Sign Up website. Let's take a moment to appreciate the history of the Burns Park Run. It all started back in 1979 as a fundraiser for 6th grade campers, organized by the PTO. Over the years, this event has grown and supported various activities offered by our PTO to students and their families. Today, the race is led by passionate volunteer race directors and around 100 dedicated individuals who work tirelessly throughout the year to plan, fund, market, and staff the Burns Park Run. For more insight into the storied and unique history of the Burns Park Run, you can read an article by marathon legend Doug Kurtis from 2004. It's an interesting piece that captures the essence of our event. Last but not least, we're excited to announce that Probility Physical Therapy is back as the Title Sponsor of the Burns Park Run. Their dedication to making a positive impact in people's lives aligns perfectly with our event. With their outstanding services provided across 21 clinics, they create a welcoming and tranquil atmosphere for their patients. So what are you waiting for? Lace up your running shoes, gather your friends and family, and get ready to experience the thrill of the Burns Park Run. Join us for an unforgettable day of fun, fitness, and community support. See you there!
