A Time 2 Read Storybook 5K and Fun Run

Get ready for an amazing event that you won't want to miss! A Time 2 Read is proud to announce our 4th annual Storybook Character 5K and Family Fun Run. It's going to be so much fun! You have the option to choose between two exciting races: the 5K or the 1 Mile Fun Run. And guess what? Everyone who participates will receive a cool T-shirt, and those who make it to the finish line will even get a special FINISHER medal! But here's the best part: if you dress up as your favorite storybook character, you could win a fantastic prize chosen by our judges. We have prizes for the Best Family, Best Adult, and Best Child costumes. So, get creative and show off your love for storytelling! Mark your calendars because this incredible event will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023 in Huntsville, TX. We'll kick off the day with activities starting at 7:30 am in the parking lot of University Heights Baptist Church. The race will begin and end right there, so it's super convenient for everyone. But wait, there's more! The reason we organize this event is to support our literacy program called A Time 2 Read. All the proceeds from the event will go towards this program, which allows volunteers to make a real difference in the lives of children in our public schools. By dedicating just one hour per week, these caring volunteers help students improve their reading skills and build confidence. Your participation in this event will help us continue running this program and provide essential training, coaching materials, and other resources needed to make a lasting impact. Did you know that the wellbeing of the entire Huntsville community depends on a successful and high-achieving school system? That's why A Time 2 Read is so important. By providing support to students and teachers, we show them that their community cares and is right behind them every step of the way. So, let's come together and make a difference. Here's the agenda for the day: registration begins at 7:00 am, and the activities officially start at 7:30 am. It's going to be non-stop excitement! If you're wondering about packet pick-up and race day registration, we've got you covered. Packet pick-up will be on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the back portico of University Heights Baptist Church. You can either park and walk up to the tables, or if you prefer to stay in your car, we have a convenient drive-through option. And don't worry if you can't make it to packet pick-up. We'll have race day registration available, and we can accept cash or check at the race site. If you prefer, you can also register online in advance using your credit card to avoid the late registration crowd. Just remember, early registration guarantees your desired t-shirt size, so make sure to sign up by October 19, 2023, by 11:59 pm to secure your perfect fit. For those who can't physically attend the live run, we have a special virtual option available. You can support this great cause by running your own course from anywhere or even joining us remotely. If you choose the virtual option and you're local, we kindly ask you to pick up your race packet at the pre-race packet pick-up on Friday, November 3. But if you're not in the area, don't worry! We will happily mail your race packet straight to your doorstep. It's a win-win for everyone! Just a few rules to keep in mind: all age groups are welcome, and we encourage everyone to come dressed as their favorite storybook character. Baby joggers and strollers are allowed, but please start at the back of the pack for safety. Participants must stay on the official course, using sidewalks when available and the street only for passing. Remember, the most important thing is to have FUN on the RUN!
