Join NYRR and Achilles International for a four-mile race and one-mile walk through Central Park celebrating the spirit that brings together athletes with disabilities and able-bodied athletes. Achilles International was established in 1983 with a mission to enable people with all types of disabilities to participate in mainstream running events in order to promote personal achievement.

Awards & Prize
There are no age-group awards for this race. Achilles International will present awards specifically for athletes with disabilities in various categories.

Provided a minimum of seven participants finish in each of the following categories, cash prizes will be awarded after results are finalized:
  • Pushrim Wheelchair
  • Handcycle
  • Power Chair
  • Ambulatory Disabled
  • Above Knee Ambulatory
  • Below Knee Ambulatory
  • Double Amputee
  • Visually Impaired
  • Open (Able-bodied)

Participants may not pass the lead vehicle, which will maintain a consistent pace.

Course Details
4 Mile Run

The course is the four-mile Central Park "inner loop."

Mile 1: Start on East Drive near East 68th Street and run north, ascending Cat Hill.

Mile 2: Continue north and and pass Engineers' Gate (East 90th Street). Turn left onto the 102nd Street Transverse.

Mile 3: Turn left on West Drive and run south through a series of three rolling hills as you pass the Reservoir on your left.

Mile 4: Enjoy a downhill, then a flat section. Finish near The Tavern on the Green.

1 Mile Walk

The walk will begin on Central Park's East Drive at approximately 68th Street and head south. It will loop around the bottom of Central Park and continue north on West Drive. You will finish by Tavern on the Green. The course is flat to gently rolling throughout.

Short runs of age-appropriate distances will take place on Center Road. Participants should line up for their run by 10:00 a.m.
Raceday Logistics
Race Number Pickup

Numbers (which include your timing tag) and T-shirts may be picked up at the NYRR RUNCENTER at 320 West 57th Street (between Eighth and Ninth avenues) on the following dates:
  • Saturday, June 15, 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 16, 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
  • Monday, June 17, 7:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 18, 7:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, June 29, 7:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 20, 7:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Friday, June 21, 7:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 22, 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
Show the QR code from your race confirmation email or your NYRR account to pick up your race materials. Please pick up during the week to avoid crowds on race day. Race-day lines may impact your ability to get to the start on time. Shirt sizes are subject to availability; please note that shirts may not be available at race-day pickup.

If you're unable to pick up your race materials, a friend or family member can pick up for you; the person will need your QR code (printed or digitally). This policy is in effect only for our weekly races, and not for the TCS New York City Marathon.

On race day, pickup will be at Race-Day Central in Central Park from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m for the four-mile race, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for the walk, and from 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. for the kids' races. If you pick up on race day, please be sure to allow yourself enough time to get from Race-Day Central to the start.

Bag check, located on Center Road in Central Park, will be open from 7:30 to 11:00 a.m. If you wish to check a bag, please allow additional time for bag check and security.


Start Times
This event will feature multiple starts for athletes in various categories. The schedule of starts is as follows:
  • 8:15 a.m.- Handcycles
  • 8:20 a.m.- Pushrim Wheelchairs
  • 8:25 a.m. - Achilles Freedom Team
  • 8:30 a.m. - Runners

Stage 1

  • Ages- 2 to 11
  • Event Type - Non-competitive, Untimed shorter distances, Fitness activities.
  • Register If... Your child is new to physical activity or running, but likes playing games and being active.

Schedule
Stage 1 events will take place in the morning, and Stage 2 events will take place in the afternoon.

    Travel

    Where can I park my bike at Central Park?
    Biking to NYRR races is encouraged. Please use the proper locations for bicycle parking. Do not lock your bicycle to any temporary fence or structure that is part of the race. Besides being a safety hazard, your bicycle might be in the way of race operations.

    Please be respectful of Central Park and use approved bike parking locations. Parking your bike in unapproved Central Park locations is not advised and can result in your bike being removed or relocated.

    • Tennis House (West 95th Street)
    • Mineral Springs (West 68th Street)

    • East 90th Street and Fifth Avenue
    • West 90th Street and Central Park West
