Pacific Coast 100 route

The course starts at Irvine Amtrak Station and gradually ascends to Foothill Ranch. From here it descends to San Juan Capistrano and follows the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route through San Clemente to Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base.

The ride then continues on the scenic shoulder of Freeway 5 to Oceanside. It visits Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, and Del Mar, before climbing Torrey Pines. The route then follows the bike path down to San Diego. Finally it passes Spanish Landing Park, which offers great views of the skyline, before finishing at Santa Fe Station.

This is 100 miles of amazing road riding from Irvine to Torrey Pines over flat to rolling terrain with approximately 3200’ of elevation gain. We have added a metric (62 miles) century this year riding straight to Carlsbad.

Your bike will be safely transported back to Irvine. When you are ready, you will catch a luxury bus with your friends back to Irvine.

Saturday Morning - Sept 7th at the Irvine Train Station from 5:30 - 6:30 am

Official start time - 5:30am. Riders starting before 6:00am MUST have both front and rear lights as required by law. Metric riders must start by 7:00am

Race start - 6:30am - 7:30am. Century riders starting after 6:30am will not have support from the SAG vehicles and may find rest stops closed

New this year

New for this year is a sit down lunch served under the big white tent. We will have tables and chairs to accommodate 300 riders at one time. Please be considerate and do not linger too long to allow other riders to enjoy their lunch.

Don’t Miss the Train!!

Remember to keep your bike rolling at a steady pace of 15 MPH average to arrive in San Diego by 3:00 P.M. This pace is based on departing Irvine no later than 6:30 A.M., stopping 15 minutes at each rest stop. If you fall behind schedule, request SAG support to the next rest stop or risk missing the train.

Ride-a-Longs Jeopardize the Amtrak Century

Please do not allow other riders to tag along without being registered for this event. Even if they don’t use our rest stops and porta-potties, they add to the congestion on the road and this puts our permits in jeopardy. (Our rider numbers are limited by police departments and cities we ride through.) Thank you for your cooperation.

Finish line festivites

The finish line festivities will also include music, a burrito bar lunch by Bristol Farms, soft drinks and more. The journey home to Irvine will be in chartered luxury buses.

Kit List

Cycle Helmet is mandatory and please ride a sufficient bike. Also if you are starting early and it is dark your bike must have headlights

Friends and Family can support at the start and finish line.

There are many exciting volunteer opportunities also available for this inaugural event. Volunteers will get a t-shirt with this year's promotional design and an option to participate in the worker's ride on Aug. 31st.
