Take up the challenge of this tough ultra marathon through Black Mountain and Lusardi Creek. Both the 25k and 50k courses will test even the most-experienced trail runners with plenty of hills and technical sections. Come for the finisher's medal and well-deserved post-race pizza and drinks.

How to enter the Black Mountain 50K & 25K

Black Mountain 50K & 25K routes

Starting at Hilltop Park runners climb to the top of little black loop trail and run through the beautiful trails within Black Mountain Open Space. Crossing over towards the west of the mountain down Miners Loop trail and down Lilac trail until reaching Black Mountain Ranch Park. From here runners will begin the Lusardi Loop trail. The 25k will turn around at this point, while the 50k continues eastward completing the entire loop.

After completing the loop, start the climb to the summit of Black Mountain. Then, dart all the way back down to the starting point at Hilltop Community Park, where food, drinks, friends and music will be awaiting you.

Time Limit

50K – 10 hour time limit with intermediate cutoffs.

Event Details


All 50K entrants will receive a technical shirt and a custom race Buff. 25K entrants will receive a technical shirt. All finishers will receive a finishers medal.  The podium winners in each race (1st-3rd) will receive a handcrafted award.

There will lunch and cold drinks provided at the finish line. We invite all runners and families to stick around and enjoy the day.

Age division winner awards: 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-69.

Additionally, the first runner to reach the top of the first hill (~1 mile) to snag the “Hill Champ” coin and will also receive free entry to either distance race for the following year.

This type of event could not take place without the selfless efforts of the outstanding volunteer force. Volunteer duties may include course marking or sweeping, aid station help, road crossing marshals, parking management, etc.

Can I have a pacer during the race?

No, we are unable to accommodate additional runners on this course.


Is there any aid stations?

Aid stations will have at a minimum: Water,  Tailwind Nutrition, Honey Stinger gels,  fruit, salty foods/chips, sweets (cookies, candy, etc), and ice.

    Great experience! This was my first trail race and I really enjoyed it all. Course was challenging and well marked. Aid stations were well stocked. Volunteers were awesome and the finisher medals were gorgeous! Plus, the post race pizza, fruit and drinks were a perfect ending! Great job & thank you!
