About
Welcome to the Cedar Polka Fest! For over 42 years, this festival has been a tradition in Leelanau County. And now, in its fourth year, we're bringing you an exciting event - The Cedar Polka Fest - Run 4 The Kielbasa! This four-mile race starts and finishes in the heart of downtown Cedar. But that's not all - we're also treating all participants to a delicious pancake breakfast. Yum! No matter if you're a runner, walker, stroller-pusher, wheelchair racer, or even if you have a furry friend by your side, everyone is welcome to join this professionally timed event. Can't make it to the race in person? No problem! You can still participate virtually and receive a fantastic collectible T-shirt. Plus, by joining the virtual race, you'll be supporting the Cedar Community. If a four-mile run seems a bit daunting, we've got you covered with the Pierogi Fun Run. It's a shorter distance but still includes the pancakes and sausage, which are just as sweet! Now, let's talk about the event schedule. You can pick up your race packet and register late on Friday, August 23rd, from 5 to 7pm. Look for us in front of the Polka Fest tent. On race day, Saturday, August 24th, packet pickup and race day registration will be available from 7 to 8am. You'll find us at the Race Start Line near the four-way stop in beautiful downtown Cedar. The race kicks off at 8:30am sharp, so don't be late! We encourage everyone to dress up for this fun event. Just before the race starts, at 8:25am, we'll gather near the starting line to proudly play our National Anthem. It's a wonderful way to start the day. And of course, we can't forget about the Pancake Breakfast & Awards! Unlike other races, where you have to fight for a water bottle and a bruised banana, our registered race participants enjoy a complimentary admission to our pancake breakfast. This tasty breakfast benefits the Cedar Area Fire & Rescue. Volunteers will guide you to the breakfast area, and at 10am, we'll present the awards. You can enjoy pancakes until 11am, so there's plenty of time to refuel after your race. But the fun doesn't end there! Stick around after the event for the Polka Fest Parade, the Pol Car Show, or dance the night away to the best Polka bands in the Midwest. Make sure to register online before August 15th to secure your T-shirt. We have limited sizes available for those who register after this date, so it's first come, first served. Trust us, you don't want to miss out on this unique and collectible T-shirt. Online registration closes at 8am on August 24th, 2024. So gather your friends, lace up your running shoes, and get ready for an unforgettable day of fun, fitness, and pancakes at the Cedar Polka Fest - Run 4 The Kielbasa!
