Route information
Marathon and Half Marathon
The course will be closed to traffic for participants who are averaging faster than 13:45 minutes per mile for the marathon, and 16 minutes per mile for the Half Marathon. Slower participants may continue after traffic is allowed onto the race course, but they do so at their own risk and must follow pedestrian statutes. Race volunteers, the finish line, and post-race festivities will remain active long enough to accommodate runners taking up to 7 hours to complete the Marathon.
The time limit for traffic control on the course is a 3:30 finish time for the half marathon and a 6:00 finish time for the full marathon. If you are still on the course after the time limit, you will need to exercise caution as it pertains to automobiles, etc. We will, however, keep the finish line clock running for 7 hours from the start of the marathon.
The race starts near State Farm Center, runs through campus, loops through Urbana, back through campus, out into Champaign (for Marathon entrants), and finishes on the 50-yard line of Memorial Stadium.
10K
The course starts near State Farm Center, runs north on First Street and through downtown Champaign, past West Side Park and the Champaign Country Club, and finishes on the 50-yard line of Memorial Stadium. After the wave starts for the marathon, half marathon, and marathon relay, we will line up all 10K entrants according to pace, with the fastest runners at the front, the walkers at the back, and everyone else in between. At approximately 7:40 AM, the 10K race will begin.
5K
The race starts on Oak Street, south of St. Mary’s Road, runs through campus, and finishes on the 50-yard line of Memorial Stadium. The Illinois National Bank 4th Mile 5K StreetFest, hosted by the Illini Radio Group, will take place from 6:30 pm to 10 pm outside Memorial Stadium between First Street & Fourth Street, in the same footprint where the 27th Mile Celebrate Victory Bash will take place on Saturday!
Youth Run
The route is roughly 1K in length (slightly longer than half a mile). Each heat will start separately at the south end of the football field, make several loops north and south on the field, and then finish at the 50-yard-line.The Youth Run will be run entirely inside Memorial Stadium.
