Meet the organizer

We would like to welcome you to the 6th Annual Christmas in July Races, which we like to call the longest summer holiday running party in the country.

Our venue is festively decorated with christmas lights, inflatables, and more and takes place in beautiful Lisle Community Park in Lisle, IL (Just 25 miles outside of Downtown Chicago, IL and easy to get to).

This is a great venue for the entire family. The kids get to run with Santa Claus and receive medals and t-shirts for their participation. Each participant receives awesome swag at the door and top notch finisher medals upon completion. We also hand out unique holiday Nutcrackers as finisher awards. We also have a costume contest for the 5K and fixed-timed events, so if you like, come prepared for that so our amazing volunteers can pick the winners.

If youre running one of our timed events, youre able to camp alongside the trail. Last year, we had 84 camping tents on the grounds and its growing every year. Most decorate their space with holiday decorations, some even bring projection TVs to entertain the kids overnight. Its a blast!

If you have any questions, at all, please contact the race staff at [email protected] and well be happy to answer any of your questions. We look forward to see you in 2019!

    Course Details

    The 6, 12 and 24 Hour Races

The “1 mile” loop is actually 0.9732971994 miles (or 1.56637 KM), so get in a groove. The course will be mostly flat with some elevation change near the stage and natural amphitheater. Watch out for signs that might be for 5K runners only, but if you follow the lights/luminaries that will outline the “1-mile” loop, in addition to the numerous signs we’ll have out there, then you should NEVER get lost. Watch out for pedestrian cross traffic near the start/finish line as it might get a bit more congested. We will have signs posted, but wanted to make you aware of this. We think that you’ll quickly figure out everything once you get a few loops in.

    The 5K

The 5K loop starts at the NW section of the Lisle High School parking lot on the east side of the school. Runners will run around the median and south out of the parking lot and turn right onto Short Street. You’ll make a left turn on Ohio Court, another left on Ohio Street, then follow that around towards the right until you reach Yackley Avenue where you’ll make a left turn onto the sidewalk and then a quick left onto the running path. You will continue on this path and reach the 5K aid station between two softball fields. You may wish to enjoy a snack followed by some liquid refreshment and then continue around until you find a bridge that cross the Easy Branch DuPage River. (WATCH OUT and don’t miss it) You will make a right-hand turn onto this bridge, but watch out for oncoming “faster” runners, maybe offer a high-five, and be on your way. Once you cross the bridge, you’ll want to turn right and follow the path around the softball and soccer fields and eventually head north. You’ll want to be extra careful crossing the parking following the signs and rounding about the northern side of it and coming back to the bridge where you will want to make a right turn, again, giving high-fives to those “slower” runners. Give some words of encouragement and make another right turn onto the path and continue up towards Short Street. Be sure to follow the signs and not cut the corners as we direct you across Short Street where police will be present directing traffic. Thank the officers, and continue on the “decorated” portion of the course and follow this around to the backside of the Lisle High School until you reach Short Street once again. Sprint it in at this point since you only have a little over 1/10th of a mile left where you’ll finish strong and be awarded with an awesome medal. The course will be well marked with signs directing you.
