Lace up your running shoes and get ready to run Raleigh’s Hometown Race! The annual Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina City of Oaks Marathon is returning with a distance for everyone. Tour the City of Oaks on foot and enjoy a post-race party equipped with live music, free beer, and much more!

City of Oaks Marathon routes

Each course was designed to showcase many of the focal points of the capital city, including Fayetteville Street and the State Capitol Building in downtown Raleigh, the Glenwood South restaurant district, Meredith College, NC State University, and the NC State Bell Tower. The courses show the diversity of Raleigh’s landscape, from modern city to wooded trails with a lakeside setting. Marathon runners will also be treated to a run on the Capital Area Greenway system.

The Raleigh City of Oaks Marathon, UNC REX Healthcare Half Marathon, 10k and Acorn 5k are USATF-sanctioned events and USATF-certified courses. The marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier.

Relay Entries

As CAPTAIN you enter your personal info, your Team Name (and optional password), and pay the entry fee for your team. As team CAPTAIN, you are registered. However, each team MEMBER must also register for the event.

A link for the team MEMBERS to register will be included in your CAPTAIN registration confirmation email for you to forward to your team MEMBERS. They should select the TEAM MEMBER registration category, select your team name and enter the password you have designated for the team.

If you are a parent/guardian entering several forms for each of your family/team MEMBERS, After you register yourself as CAPTAIN, then use the option to enter ANOTHER FORM for each team MEMBER you are registering.

What’s Included
Runners will receive their bibs, gear check bag, and participant shirt at the expo.

Please note: Shirts are ordered based on the sizes indicated at registration so we do not allow switching sizes until after the race has begun. T-shirt exchanges are done at the Customer Service tent located in the finish area.
Raceday Logistics

The Duke Raleigh Hospital City of Oaks Health and Fitness Expo will return November 2, 2019, and is free and open to the public. There will be plenty of exhibitors to participate in this fun-filled event offering a wide variety of health and fitness related content including interactive sports activities, free health tests and screenings, free samples and many more health and wellness resources for the entire family!

The expo will also be the site of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina City of Oaks race packet pick-up. All race packets must be picked up at the Duke Raleigh Hospital Health and Fitness Expo. Please note that there will be no race day packet pick-up!

Packet Pick-Up Details:

Packet Pick-up is required for all runners. Race day packet pick-up will not be available!

There will be free parking on school grounds as well as ample street parking on Horton Street.
Finish Line Festival

After you finish conquering your race, join us in Runners Village where you can enjoy all of these great amenities:

Overall Awards

There will be overall awards presented on stage for each distance.

  • 5k & 10k Overall Awards: 9am
  • Half Marathon: 10am
  • Marathon: 11am

Overall Awards will be presented to the top THREE Male and Female finishers in the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K. There will be no overall awards for Marathon Relay. Please make sure you are present during the ceremony.

Age Group Awards

All age group awards are based on chip time. In addition to all finishers receiving a race-specific finisher medal, there will be award medals for the top age group finishers. There will be no age group awards for the Marathon Relay!

Awards will be given to the top three finishers for the Marathon and Half Marathon; while 10k and 5k awards will be only TOP finisher in each age group division below:

Ages 14 and under; 15 – 19; 20 –24; 25 – 29; 30 – 34; 35 – 39; 40 – 44; 45 – 49; 50 – 54; 55 – 59; 60 – 64; 65 – 69; 70+

Age group awards may be claimed at the customer service tent in Runners Village following each race; there will not be an awards ceremony for age group awards.
