From the organizer

Grab your colleagues or friends, and together conquer the 26.2. Run one mile, four, or more - to help your team reach 26.2 miles as a group. As in the past three years we are expecting more than 100 corporate, club, and family teams.

The event will take place at the historic Armory in Manhattan's Washington Heights, April 12-14, 2019. The Armory is home to the New Balance Track and Field center, one of the finest indoor track & field facilities in the world within the walls of a historic New York City landmark. Remarkably, in each of its first three years individual men's and women's world records were set at The Armory NYC Marathon. Come watch history be made again.

What’s Included
On completion of the indoor marathon! FAQs
How many people can be on a team?

Marathon relay teams can have as little as two (2) runners to as many as eight (8) runners.

Signing Up a Relay Team

How do you create a team?

Each team consists of a Captain and team Members. The first person to register is the “Captain”. If you are signing up as the captain of your team, select the day you would like to run and select CAPTAIN. Follow the registration instructions and then click on the button that says “Create new team” and choose a team name. Finally, select a team category for your team. Your race category will help us rank your team against other teams similar to yours.

How do members join an existing team?

To register as a team MEMBER, simply get the day and team name from your Captain. When registering, click on the button that says “Join existing team” and enter the name of the team you would like to join, which should appear as you type it.

What are the team categories?

We have male, female, and co-ed categories for Financial Services, Medical & Healthcare, Law Firm/Professional Services, Media, Athletic Club, College/University/School, and Open.

How do we qualify to be a co-ed team?

Any mix of gender may run as a co-ed team, but to be eligible for awards, each gender must complete a minimum of 100 laps.

How does a captain invite team members?

Your Captain can share the registration link site to your teammates via Facebook, Twitter, or email. The Captain should share the name of your team, the day, and time you will be running.

Should I register now? Or should I register after I have built my team?

Our recommendation is to sign up as captain for your team first in the desired time slot, and then take the time up until the April 9th deadline to find teammates and set up your team.

Do all team members need to register and pay before race day?

YES. All members of the team must be registered as part of your team by the registration deadline to be guaranteed a racing bib, timing chip, and prize pack.

Individual World Record Challenge

Who can sign up for the individual world record challenge?

Runners interested in the world record challenge must have run a sub 2:50 marathon, and all entries are subject to Meet Director approval.

What if I break the world and/or American record?

For breaking the world indoor marathon record, there will be an additional $4,000 added on to the $3,000 winning prize. For any runners that runs below the current world record, an additional $1,000 will be earned. (For men it is 2:19:01.9, for women it is 2:40:55.3)

Is there an option for individual runners to run the indoor marathon without pursuing the indoor marathon records?

Yes. Runners may sign up for the final Sunday running slot at 3:00pm and join other teams in running the indoor marathon. All individual runners wanting to participate in that race would have had to previously run a marathon in 3:45 or faster. Registration for this race will cost $175.

Is there a race slot designed for uber-competitive teams?

Yes. Those teams looking for a competitive race can run in the elite race on Sunday March 18 at 8:00am.

Are there any other specialty races?

Yes. There will be a fitness challenge race for teams representing boutique fitness locations such as SoulCycle and Tone House on Sunday April 14th at 11:30am.

Race Day Questions

When should I arrive for my race?

All team members must arrive no later than 30 minutes before the start of your race.

What is the easiest way to get to The Armory?

You can take the A, C, or 1 train to 168th street and then walk one block to Fort Washington Ave. For those who wish to drive, there is parking available at the parking garage on 165th and Fort Washington, as well as street parking.

What will I receive when I arrive?

When you check in, you will receive a packet that contains your bib numbers and all of your timing chips for your team. At check in, teams may also pick up their participation t-shirts.

Where can a team put their bags and jackets?

You may place your bags, jackets, and other equipment in any of our bleachers on the 3rd and 4th floors.

How does the race work?

One member from each team will start the run and substitutes may enter the track at the completion of any lap. Each runner can enter and come off three (3) times during the marathon. Runners are prohibited from wearing any headphones (don’t worry, we will provide the soundtrack – and feel free to send us your musical requests ahead of time.)

How do I wear my bib and timing chip?

Race bibs should be pinned to the front of your racing shirt. Timing chips should be strapped around your ankle.

Do I have to run all of my laps consecutively?

No. You can run as many laps as you wish and then tag a teammate and come off the track. Each runner can come on and off up to three times during the race. (For highest fun quotient, we recommend devising a plan so that each team member runs three times and can catch his or her breath to cheer you on before returning to the track.)

How do I know how many laps are remaining for our team?

Scoreboards around the arena will count down (and count up) the number of laps you have remaining each time you go around.

Where on the track can I come off and tag in my teammate?

You can come off the track and exchange with another teammate inside the marked exchanged zone at the finish line of the track. (Don’t worry, that is “track talk” we’ll explain before the “gun goes off”).
