Event summary

The low-lying Coyote Hills rise as a prominent landmark on the eastern shoreline of San Francisco Bay, along the western edge of southern Alameda County. Archaeology has revealed that Native Americans have lived in the area for at least 12,900 to 13,500 years. The Tuibun Ohlone village site (which is more than 2,000 years old) may be visited at Coyote Hills Regional Park on naturalist-led programs. Come and enjoy the rolling hills and bay views! Hikers/walkers are always welcome.

Your organiser

We don’t care if you are fast or slow, big or small, young or old. We aren’t the beautiful people you might see in a shoe commercial on TV. We never will be. We’re just everyday people who have discovered the happiness that running can bring. If you have the guts to get off the couch, get outside and run or walk at least 5K (3.1 miles), we are ready for you.

From fire trails to single track, pavement to wooden boardwalks, these courses have it all. And don't be too scared of the hills. Coyote Hills is the name of the park, but the hills are pretty small!

Logistics and schedule

Raceday Registration:

It is possible that the race is 100% sold out before race day. Updates will be posted on the race website. If you do not see the race noted as sold out here or on the race home page, you will be okay to sign up on race morning, starting at 7:30 a.m. Race day registration is an additional $5 from the final online registration price.

Bib Pick-Up:

Runners have three options for picking up their bibs and shirts:

1. Mail-out service (available for a fee when registering).
2. We will have early pick-up available on Thursday, January 23, 2020 (3:00 pm to 7:00 pm) and Friday, January 24, 2020, (11:00 am to 3:00 pm) at Road Runner Sports in San Carlos. Early pick-up is highly recommended, but if that is not possible for you, we will still have bib pick-up available on race morning.
3. Pick up on race morning (not recommended).

In order to avoid race morning stress and avoid having to arrive even earlier, we strongly recommend choosing options 1 or 2. If you are unable to take advantage of those first two options, race morning pick-up will still be available, but you should aim to arrive 70-90 minutes ahead of your race start to account for lines.

Hikers:

For half marathon participants who wish to walk/hike the course and expect to take more than 3.5 hours, we offer a "Hiker Division" start at 8:00am. Hiker starts will not be eligible to win the race or for age group awards, but will be listed as official finishers in the Hiker Division results and will still receive finisher medals.

Time Limits:

The half marathon will start at 9:00am and the course will have a time limit of 4 hours. Runners must finish their first loop and reach Aid 3 (mile 6.54) by 10:45am as well as reach the Apay split (mile 9.6) by 11:30am.

Water Stations:

Water stations will be fully stocked with water, sports drink, gels, pretzels, candy, etc.

The 5K will have 1 aid station, the 10K will have 2 aid stations, the half marathon will have 5 aid stations.

Runners who may need more water should carry their own water bottle/hydration pack.
