About this event

There are 5 different races to choose from in the stunning San Angelo State Park. With a variety of terrains, this course is challenging but hugely enjoyable. There will be plenty of support along the way, so you won't run out of fuel.

How to enter

What's included:

  • Timing Tent
  • Aid Tent
  • Medical: bandages, vasoline, band aids, and medical personnel
  • Drinks: Gatorade, Water and Hammer Heed Endurolytes; Red Bull; Coke, Ginger Ale, Orange Juice
  • Sweet snacks: cookies, candy bars, peanut butter, nutella
  • Salty snacks: pringles, trail mix
  • Other cold foods: PB&J Sandwiches, bean burritos, bananas, oranges, and assorted fruits
  • Hot foods: Quesadillas, soups, ramen, potatoes, grilled cheese sandwiches. There will be vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options
  • Two sleep/rest tents

Awards:

  • Buckles for: all 100k finishers

  • Medals for: all 50k, 13.1 Half, 10k, and 5k finishers

  • Individual Awards:

  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Men and Women Overall for each distance and category

  • 1st and 2nd Men and Women over the age of 50

Route description
Route description

The course is a mix of terrains over undulating hills. You stay in the park's north part for the 5k and 10k races. The longer races head further afield into low deserts, and require more ascents and technical trail running.

Laps:

  • 50k runners do 2 laps of a 15.7 mile course.
  • 100k runners do 3 laps of a 21.7 mile course.
  • All other runners do 1 lap of a set-distance course.

Aid Stations:

  • 5k - Finish
  • 10k - 3.5miles, Finish
  • 13.1 Half - 3.5 miles, 7.9, 10.4, Finish
  • 50k - 3.5 miles, 7.9, 12.4, 15.7, 19.0, 23.4, 27.9, Finish
  • 100k - 3.5 miles, 7.9, 12.3, 16.7, 21.7, 25.2, 29.6, 34.0, 38.4, 43.4, 46.9, 51.3, 55.6, 60.1, Finish
Logistics and schedule

Start/Finish Area: North Entrance, San Angelo State Park, 7126 N FM 2288 Grapecreek, TX 76901

Friday 6th March:

  • 15:00 - Packet Pickup opens at Start/Finish Area
  • 16:00 - Meeting for runners
  • 17:00 - Meeting ends
  • 19:00 - Packet Pickup closes

Saturday 7th March:

  • 05:00 - Packet Pickup opens at Start/Finish Area
  • 06:00 - 100k race starts
  • 07:00 - 50k race starts
  • 08:00 - 13.1 Half race starts
  • 08:15 - 10k race starts
  • 08:30 - 5k race starts
  • 09:00 - Packet Pickup closes
  • 20:00 - Cut off for finishing the first loop (14 hours)

Sunday 8th March:

  • 00:00 - Cut off for passing Strawberry (18 hours)
  • 04:00 - Cut off for finishing the race (22 hours)
Spectators

Crew are allowed to access any aid station they choose, but they must walk to the locations as the gates will be locked.

Volunteers

Shifts for volunteering will last 4-8 hours. If you want to sign up to volunteer, you are welcome to email [email protected]

All volunteers will receive:

  • Free park entry
  • Camping area
  • Race merch
  • Meals provided

If you do 1 shift, you will get 50% race credit for a future one-day race. If you do 2 shifts, you will get 100% credit for a future one-day race.

Location: 7126 N FM 2288 Grapecreek, TX 76901

To get to the start/finish location, use the equestrian gate, which is just west of the main North entrance to the park. It is 1.7 miles west of the US 87 on 2288.

It costs $5 to enter the park for all individuals except children under 12.

You are allowed to camp at the start line on Friday and Saturday nights at a cost of $10 (you do not have to pay the $5 entry fee)

Airport:

The nearest airport to the event is San Angelo, which is accessed directly with American Airlines.
