Crown City Classic – Coronado’s 4th July routes

The Crown City Classic is back for its 46th year as always on Independence Day, and what better way to celebrate 7/4 than by running 7.4 miles?

This event is the perfect family-friendly event to kick off your 4th of July festivities, and shoot off like a firework across the start line in either the 12K (7.4 miles), 5K (3.1 miles), Crown City Mile, or Kids Half Mile race.

Spectators gathering along the parade route on Orange Avenue will add extra fuel to your fire as you speed around the fast and flat course, feeling the freedom of running in your legs.

This flat and fast 5K and 12K courses start in Coronado Tidelands Park by running under the iconic American flag. The 12K will run along picturesque Glorietta Blvd and will extend south past the Navy Amphibious Base along the bike path and turn around approximately 1/4 mile past the Silver Strand Nature’s Bridge to Discovery.

The Crown City Mile will start at 4th & Orange Ave, and Kids Mile will start in front of Vons at 868 Orange Ave. Both will race down the parade route on Orange Avenue.

Celebrate your runners high by visiting the post-race expo before heading back to Orange Avenue to attend the West Coast's largest 4th of July Parade.
