The 2024 Grand Prix Series presented by Summit Coffee continues with the fifth event, the Decatur DeKalb 4 Miler. Join us as we run through the City of Decatur neighborhoods, for one of Atlanta Track Club's most challenging courses.

Steal some glitches in the registration system. My wife and I were unable to register along with several other people who were waiting in line because the site just clearly would not allow them to register. We actually thought when we got to the venue that we would not be able to run the race, we just took a chance in going knowing that more than likely we would have to come back home. it seems that when we try to register it’s just all white it out, the only way to register would be if we were to become members but we are already members. So not sure what’s going on with that. Overall, I’ve this race for many years and I would recommend to other folks as well as of course, as it is. 

A challenging, twisty course with big hills in miles 3 and 4, usually in hot and humid weather. Too bad it’s not earlier in the summer; it would make great training for the Peachtree Road Race 10k on July 4th.

I submitted my time for the Virtual event but it wasn't recorded in the race results! 

It was well run, but the weather was FREEZING!!!

The weather was brutal! I thought the race was going to be canceled due to the single digit temperatures. It would have been good to have sent out tips for how to dress in extreme cold weather conditions. 

It was very cold, but everyone was in a happy mood. The volunteers were great, as usual. A really good vibe overall. 

Though it was freezing COLD, the volunteers and ATC Staff were AMAZING!!!

I ran in person, it was a little too cold for me yet I enjoyed the event. Hopefully, it will be warmer next year. Need work on the new registration system. I had problems with downloading Q.R. check-in code to my iPhone and I could not print it either (No Print Friendly Version). I ended up having to screenshot the code. Hopefully, there will be a better way to access the code in the future that is easier than just a screenshot. Lastly, some cars accidentally entered the 5-mile course leaving Woodward Acadamy sporting event. I think the drivers did not understand the directions given by police/volunteers. The cars (about 5 or 6) stop for some time on the course trying to figure out what to do. I think the cars ended up diving around confused and monkeyed with some runner race times.

It was freezing cold that day but the volunteers were awesome and the event ran like clockwork!

I was very please with the 5k race.  How well organized it was and how all the volunteers was there to help & and answer questions.  It was cold!  But I really enjoyed it.

It's really good this early in January and downgrading on race day would be better 

Thankfully you offered a Virtual option which I did.  Because of the virtual option I did the five mile event rather than the 5k which I would have done in person.  Tough to maneuver because of ATC transitioning website providers in the midst of registration.  

Always organized and the volunteers are always so wonderful! Love doing these races.

It was a very cold and windy morning but seeing all the participants and upbeat, happy, encouraging volunteers made it a beautiful event!

I’m also soooo amazed at the wonderful volunteers and the Atlanta Track Club Members who show up and show out !!! 

Great race and organization overall. I think the cold scared away a few volunteers, but the course was well marked, so it wasn’t a big deal. Looking forward to it next year!

Huge thanks to the volunteers, ATC staff, and police who pulled off this excellent race under very cold conditions. It was an inspiring run, and I was thrilled to see so many runners come out.

First of all, biggest thanks to everyone who was there and made it happen. It was abnormally cold for Atlanta, and the volunteers were truly saints.The race was great, for me at least. When I was warming up, I jogged to the other side of the train station (College Park), and I was asked by a few people how to get to the race start. I had to tell them that it's happening on the other side of the station, and I don't know how to get there with all the road closures. I'm not sure how they ended up there, but maybe it would have been helpful if there was a way to direct people to the right place somehow.This may be due to the system migration from Haku to LetsDoThis, but I did not get a check-in pass for the event. It also seems that there was no awards ceremony after the race but that was not communicated nor announced. So I wish the channel of communication was a bit better, but the important race management stuff was very well done as always. Thank you, ATC!

The directions for the 5 miler were deficient.  After the 5K and 5 mile split, the lack of direction arrows for turns caused me and at least one other runner to run about an extra half mile.  Many runners were also confused about the parking lots and directions to the start area, especially if you parked in the lot on the opposite side of the Marta tracks.

Impressive that everyone was out and about and in a great mood in really cold conditions. Nice run. Thanks!

I like this race overall but I didn’t know when it was time to sprint to the end since you had a climb a hill before the finish! But overall it was a fun race and I did better than last year 

Great course and organization in the sub-freezing temperatures. Despite some volunteers not being able to make it, and some participants being delayed due to MARTA train cancellations, it went well. I'm glad I participated this year.

Some issues with MARTA train cancellations and weather, otherwise was able to start and finish within the course times and had a great time.

So Cold! Very grateful for the volunteers 

It was freezing!! But they made it easier by being organized and helpful throughout the course 

I would run this race again. The weather was 17 degrees which was brutal.

Kick off the 2024 Grand Prix Series presented by Summit Coffee with Atlanta Track Club and the South Fulton Running Partners for the Jerome Scales Southside 5M & 5K on January 20 in College Park. Race through the beautiful College Park neighborhood and around Woodward Academy. This event is free and exclusive to Atlanta Track Club members. This event is named for former board member Jerome Scales.
