The Dirthead is an off-road duathlon that takes place at Croom in Withlacoochee Forest. The running and biking takes place mainly on their great single-track trails with the following distances:

Middle Earth Duathlon: 10 mile bike, 8 mile run, 13 mile bike

Sprint Duathlon: 10 mile bike, 3.8 miles run

Race is limited to 200 racers.

Dirthead Off-Road Duathlon routes

The Courses: Croom is a great place for riding – nothing too technical with just miles and miles of fun trails. The mountain biking portion will be well marked and take place on the mountain bike trails. The running will also take place on single-track trails. There is a 10 mile initial bike loop that is not detailed on the map, but you can see the bike and run loops here.

What’s Included

T-Shirts: Short-sleeved full-color t-shirts are guaranteed for all pre-registered runners and should be available for most race day runners.

Awards: All finishers of the Middle Earth Duathlon will receive finisher awards and the top finishers of the Sprint Duathlon will get awards. There will be custom trophies for the overall male and female and masters male and female.

Water Stops: There will be a water stop along the running route

Post Race Feast: There will be some great grub after the race.
Raceday Logistics

Pre-Race: Race packet pickup Sunday morning starting at 6:00 am. Race day registration is available.

The races both start at 7:30 a.m.

Bring a Volunteer / Run Free

As with all of our races, we need volunteers to make it all work. If you want to Race for Free, bring a Volunteer to help for the race. The volunteers will assist with the same distance race as the person racing.

High school students can get volunteer hours by working at our races also.
