Eastern Panhandle Marathon routes
The event will take place on a loop course of 4.37 miles. The course loop is run in the clockwise direction. Half marathoners will run three loops, and marathoners will run six loops. The course consists mostly of single-track trail with some grass and some asphalt. Runners start each loop at the Kester Pavilion and head clockwise around the park fishing pond. Part way around the pond runners turn left and run over the Tuscarora Creek Bridge and then turn right onto hole 1 of the Disc Golf Course. After enjoying hole 1 for 100 plus yards runners take a hard left turn at the picnic table to enter the park bike/single-track trail. The trail is marked with blue blazes and crosses the disc golf course a number of times each loop. In addition to the blue blazes on the bike trail the entire loop will be well marked on race day with arrows, ribbons, arrow signs, and flags. Upon exiting the bike trail runners will cross an open field before running over the Tuscarora Creek. After crossing this second bridge of the loop runners turn right to head north on the west side of the pond back to the start/finish. The elevation gain and loss for each loop is approximately 300 feet.
