Florida Holiday Distance Classic routes

THE COURSE
The half marathon and 10K course is accurately measured and USATF certified, starting in Madeira Beach, heading north on Gulf Boulevard through exclusive residential and commercial communities to Indian Shores, before heading inland to Seminole, north along the smoothly paved Pinellas Trail into shaded and scenic Taylor Park, to the lakefront finish line, the perfect place to relax, recover, listen to live music, eat our homemade hot food, and enjoy some ice-cold beverages.

Course Highlights
  • Start time is fifteen minutes after sunrise.
  • The course tours through exclusive residential neighborhoods and commercial areas on Gulf Boulevard.
  • Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail is the longest “rails-to-trails” linear park in the country.
  • Taylor Park is a beautiful setting to finish the Florida Road Races Holiday Halfathon.
HALF MARATHON COURSE TIME LIMITS
We require that runners and walkers be properly prepared and trained to finish the half marathon within 4 hours (18 minute/mile pace). Please note that 4 hours after the start, course support (i.e. aid/water stations, volunteers, course marshals, clocks, etc.) is not guaranteed.

USATF Certification
Both half marathon/relay courses have been precisely measured and documentation provided according to USATF requirements, certifying our courses as accurately measured.

CHIP TIMING
All official results will be based on “Gun Time” as per USATF rules. Chip times will be posted for our athletes’ review, but NOT used for scoring.

    From the organizer

We invite you to join the Annual Florida Holiday Halfathon & 10K, our point-to-point course, which is fast, flat, scenic and aesthetically varied: just one small bridge (Park Boulevard Bridge, four miles into the course) and two overpasses, with the rest of the course 10 25 feet above sea level. Pinellas Countys oldest half marathon created in 2002 - Pinellas Countys only point-to-point half marathon. NEW! Weve added the 10K to our Holiday Halfathon. The 10K allows athletes not up for the half marathon distance an opportunity to participate in one of Pinellas Countys most popular Holiday races and earn the gorgeous Holiday finisher medal.

    Volunteers
Please help us help our athletes achieve their goals:
    • with registration and packet pick-up
    • at an aid station dispensing fluids
    • at the finish line handing out medals and bottled water
    • at the food and beer tent (must be over 18 to pour beer)
ALL our participants, athletes and volunteers alike, will be rewarded with a great experience:
    • located at our nation’s favorite beach
    • typically ideal weather
    • post-race celebration, including hot pasta, cold beer, and live music
    • Zorrel hi-tech shirts
If your friends or family members are coming with you, they can “participate” in your race by serving as a volunteer.

Or perhaps you’re an athlete who is not entered to participate for whatever reason – here’s an excellent opportunity to help your fellow athletes and socialize with them afterwards in a beautiful park setting on a very festive holiday.
    FAQs

    Are you allowed strollers?

    No Strollers, Bicycles, or Dogs
All our races are sanctioned and insured through USATF for runners, joggers, and walkers ONLY. Strollers, skaters, skateboards, bicycles, or dogs are NOT allowed on the course during our races.

    What is the post-race party?

Celebrate your success at our super-fun post-race party. Replenish with our delicious pasta and meatballs (vegetarian option available), beer, breakfast foods and fruits. Enjoy live music while you mingle with other runners. Stay around for Santa’s awards ceremony in case you win in your age group. You just may receive another medal or trophy!

Is there a pre-race packet pick up?

There will be 3 packet pickups the week prior to the race at the Fit2Run stores in Tampa & St. Petersburg. You can register for the race at packet pickup.

    • Wednesday, December 4, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Fit2Run/Tampa
    • Thursday, December 5, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Fit2Run/St. Petersburg
    • Saturday, December 7, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Fit2Run/St. Petersburg
Fit2Run is offering a 10% discount on full retail-priced items during packet pickup.

There is Race morning registration and packet pickup at Madeira Beach City Hall, upstairs in the recreation room from 5:30 – 6:45 a.m., though we encourage you to pick up prior to Race Day to avoid long lines.

If you are picking up for a group, it helps us tremendously if you have all the names written on a sheet of paper. This will expedite the process and keep the line moving. Extra points if they are in alphabetical order!

    Does everyone get a t-shirt?

Though we try our best, we can not guarantee T-shirt sizes on race weekend. By picking up your packet earlier in the week, you increase your chance of getting the size you requested. The shirt size you choose when you register gives us an idea of how many Ts, per size, we should order. We place our order 3 weeks in advance of race day to allow for shipping and printing. We add a percentage to account for the runners who register after the order is placed. We hate to disappoint, but it’s tough to predict what size T-shirts the new registrants will require. Sometimes this skews our inventory. So, come early!

    Is it a Walker-Friendly Race?

We welcome walkers! We require that walkers be properly prepared and trained to finish the Halfathon within 4 hours (18 minute/mile pace). Please note that 4 hours after the start, course support ((i.e. aid/water stations, volunteers, course marshals, clocks, etc.) is not guaranteed.

Walkers expecting to finish slower than 4 hours will be required to start 30 minutes earlier, at 7:05 am. This will give walkers adequate time to arrive at the finish line and will enable us to open the course to traffic earlier, which will keep residents and city officials happy.

All walker-finishers will be rewarded with the Holiday edition of our unique “running starfish” gold medal.

Fitness Walkers are also eligible to be recognized as Triple Crown finishers.
