2019 will mark the ninth annual Fort2Base race- a monumental race through Illinois’ most impressive, historic and contemporary military command and training centers.The nautical mile (symbol M, NM or nmi) is a unit of length that is about one minute of arc of latitude measured along any meridian, or about one minute of arc of longitude at the equator. By international agreement, it is 1,852 metres (approximately 6,076 feet).

Route information
The Fort 2 Base 10 Nautical Mile and 3 Nautical Mile races will be using the ChronoTrack disposable timing chip system. Each participant will receive a B-Tag attached to their race bib when they pick up their race materials at packet pickup.
If you are using the single-use ChronoTrack B-Tag as a timing device for the first time, please ensure the following in order to receive an accurate time.
- Race bib is clearly visible on the front of the torso (it can be attached to a shirt, shorts or a race belt)
- Race bib is unaltered and unmodified (Do not fold, wrinkle, bend, cut or alter in any way)
- Race bib is not covered (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)

Please note that athletes can only win one individual award. If an athlete qualifies for more than one award, the athlete will be awarded the most prestigious award. (For example if a 43-year-old man is the 2nd overall finisher AND the top age group winner in the 40-44 age group in the 10 NM, he would receive the 2nd overall award, but not the age group award.)

Get full directionsDirections & Parking:
All 10 Nautical Mile and 3 Nautical Mile participants, spectators and volunteers will need to park at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science (RFUMS), located at 3333 Greenbay Road, North Chicago, IL 60064. Shuttle buses will begin running to Fort Sheridan at 5:15 am and the last bus will leave at 6:15 am. Shuttle buses will run continuously between Foss Park and the RFUMS beginning at 5:15 am through the end of the event.
Driving Directions to RFUMS from RT 41 or 94:
Take RT 41 or 94 and exit at Buckley Road \ RT 137 heading east towards Greenbay Road (RT 131), approximately 2 1\4 miles from 94 and 3\4 mile from RT 41. Make a right onto Greenbay Road and head approximately 1\2 mile south to RFUSM. RFUMS is located on the east side of the street, once you arrive, there will be parking attendants to assist you with parking and getting onto the correct bus.
Please give yourself extra time to board the bus to get to the proper starting line. It will take approximately 30 minutes to get to Fort Sheridan and 10 minutes to get to Foss Park.
No spectators will be allowed on buses departing to Fort Sheridan, these buses are for participants only. If you park at Fort Sheridan, you will need to find your own transportation back to the start line, there are no shuttles returning to Fort Sheridan.
Shuttle buses heading to Foss Park will take participants, spectators, and volunteers.

There are many ways to get your race packet:

- Military personnel and those with access to Naval Station Great Lakes can pick up their packet at the USO, date and time TBD.
- Military personnel and those with a valid military ID are able to pick up packets for others during this packet pick up
- You can add on packet mailing for $20 per packet during registration or through the official merchandise store. Packets will be mailed approximately 2 weeks prior to race day via USPS.
- You can add on race day packet pick up for $10 per packet during registration or through the official merchandise store.
- All registered participant names must be on the reservation. Cut off for hotel packet pick up will be August 1, 2019
