Friends of Government Canyon Recharge Run 8K/15K

Get ready to RUN THE RECHARGE! This is your chance to experience the trails of Government Canyon State Natural Area where dinosaurs once roamed. Imagine running in the footsteps of giants! Whether you join us in-person or virtually, we invite you to sign up and support the preservation of this incredible natural area for generations to come. The Recharge Run is our annual fundraiser, and this year we're celebrating its 10th Anniversary. By participating, you'll be contributing to the Friends of Government Canyon (FoGC), a non-profit organization that works tirelessly to maintain, preserve, and protect Government Canyon State Natural Area. Almost all of your race entry fee goes directly to fund projects at the park. For those joining us in person, mark your calendars for Saturday, November 4, 2023. The 15K race starts at 7:30am sharp, followed by the 8K race at 7:45am. Remember to park at Folks Middle School as buses will transport you to the natural area. Arrive early to pick up your timing chip and walk to the start/finish line. The race is chip timed, and we have awards for the top finishers, as well as a finisher's medal for everyone who crosses the finish line. Stick around after the race for a post-race celebration and refreshments at the Picnic Pavilion. If you prefer a virtual option, you can run or walk from anywhere you choose! Whether it's on trails, roads, treadmills, or even the moon, the choice is yours. Sign up, download and print your digital race bib, complete your 15K or 8K distance between November 4-12, 2023, and submit your results. Virtual participants won't be eligible for awards, but we encourage you to share your accomplishment on social media. Registration is open now, and with a cap of 300 participants, we recommend signing up early. Take advantage of our early bird pricing before July 2nd at 11:59pm to save $10 on either race. After that, the price increases on June 30th at 11:59pm. For in-person participants, we have two packet pick-up options. On Friday, November 3rd, visit iRun at the Dominion from 4pm-7pm. On the morning of the race, Saturday, November 4th, pick up your packet from 6:15am-7:30am at the Government Canyon State Natural Area Picnic Pavilion. Stay connected with us on Facebook!
