The Gold Country Half Marathon and 5k is the first major half marathon in beautiful El Dorado County. The race will be a premier running event managed by the Sacramento Running Association’s world-class race operations team, and it will feature “the flattest and fastest course in the foothills.” Enjoy beautiful scenery, great participant services, and an exciting finisher’s party in El Dorado Hills Town Center featuring beer, wine, food, music and fun for the whole family.

Gold Country Half routes

The Half Marathon course is a tour of the beautiful El Dorado Hills community that was named "one of America's best places to live" by CNN. Course features rolling hills with a fast, net downhill final three miles. All races start and finish in the pristine El Dorado Hills Town Center.

Saturday, May 18 - Packet Pickup

Sunday, May 19 - RACE DAY
06:00 - until race starts - packet pick up
07:00 - Half Marathon
07:10 - 5K Start
07:20 - Kids' Run

To avoid long lines we STRONGLY suggest, if at all possible, that you pick up your packet before race day. However, we will have race day pickup from 6:00 am until race start at race headquarters.


Finish Festival:
A Finish Festival featuring food, beer, and fun will take place in the El Dorado Hills Town Center Amphitheater from 8:00am-11:00am. (Please Note: Please bring your ID so we can serve you your free beer in the beer garden.)

  • Custom medals for all half marathon & 5k finishers!

  • Top Male and Female finishers in the Half Marathon and 5k will receive a Gold Country Run + Sport Custom Gift basket including a free pair of running shoes, great giveaways like compression socks, hydration bottle etc.

Rules and Guidelines for All Entrants:

  • No pets.
  • No unregistered runners, walkers or pacers.
  • Wearing headphone, iPods or Walkman-type radios is discouraged.
  • No bicycles, unicycles, tricycles, inline skates, blades, or skateboards are allowed in any race!
  • Baby joggers are not allowed in the half marathon.
  • Strollers are allowed in the 5k, but please line up in the back at the start and be courteous to your fellow competitors.
  • Hand crank bicycles are not allowed at the Gold Country Run and there is no official hand crank division. If you are a disabled athlete who would like to participate in a hand crank bicycle, you may request an accommodation through USA Track & Field’s ADA Accommodations Request process. (Please note: Evaluation of this request may take 4-6 weeks.)
  • Race services are limited to the following times:
  • Runners who do not finish within the cut-off times should not expect on-course support (medical, aid stations, course marshals) and may not receive an official finish time.
  • No one other than the runner who officially registered may use the bib number with timing tag issued to that runner. Transferring and/or selling your bib is illegal.
  • Bib numbers must not be altered, should be worn on the front of the runner, and be clearly visible at all times.
